I dont get why people say Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a gory film wen it is barley has any blood. What makes it so scary is the look of the film and the gritty atmosphere. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a classic masterpeice and the grandfather of all slasher films.

Where I'm from Iceland, banned a lot of movies but the ban referred to wide distribution and subtitled and release. Retailers selling imported versions of the movie weren't being raided and copies were actually easy to get as there were UK versions of the films everywhere. The main problem with that, however, is that the UK back in the day only allowed very censored versions of the nasties. in order to get the good stuff, a poorly maintained bootleg was the way to go.


The Icelandic board of classification (owned by the government) is no longer operating. Now, the distributors go by a certain system and they follow the Dutch system.

I don't know if it is the best, but I have always found Cannibal Holocaust to be a compelling film.  Even more impressive is the fact that Deodata was brought up on charges of murder in Italy because a prosecutor believed the infamous "lady on spike" scene to be real.  It has been said before, but I will repeat it.  Modern horror directors with enormous budgets and all the CGI in the world could not duplicate the practice effects in this movie as convincingly.  Also, I love the story being an allegory of so called "civilized" society and their treatment of indigenous peoples.

Also "Chernobyl Diaries" was banned in Ukraine for...obvious reasons.
And it's banned not only for the big screen, it's even not released on any DVD or so.

I remember watching all those old pre 90's movies on VHS, my mates and I would hire from the local video shop, all rated R but the guy at the shop didn't care about how old we were, When I think back now, they were pretty full on for a bunch of kids in our early teens, Great chanel, Cheers.
