The Hostel and Saw wasn't really scary, it was just too brutal and gore that makes you feeling strange after watching it. I felt empty after watching the hostel.

This is definitely gonna be a controversial take but Hereditary is probably the most emotionally unsettling and “scary” movie I’ve ever seen. Something about the trauma and family dynamic was just so haunting.

There is absolutely no way Hereditary is so damn low. I've seen 40+ horror movies and that one was a top 3 in scariest ones. Babadook was top 4. Ignore this list

I was literally not scared of Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, the Shinning, and lots of other ones but a little scared of Silence of the Lambs after watching it but the one that did scare me was the original Evil Dead.

The scariest part of the silence of the lambs is the realism and of course the excellent job of sir Anthony Hopkins who still terrifies me
