The TV is your friend, check the weather channel if you're about to upgrade your watering can. If it's raining tomorrow, water your crops and turn in the can for upgrading, you'll not miss out on crop growth/paying out..and you get it back the day after the rain. Upgrading at the end of a month when you're not going to get another round of crops grown is also a great time to upgrade..

This game is just like real life, because I stay up all day doing nothing, and then conk out randomly at 2:00 AM.

I have some tips. Craft scarecrows and place them near your crops to keep crows away. They are nasty birds that would eat your crop. So if you don't want to lose money and crops, make a scarecrow.

Another tip I keep repeating on comments is, craft a chest! A chest can be placed anywhere from your home to outside in town (as long as it doesn't obstruct an npcs path). And these chest are nice for storing items for the long run.

Last tip, if you see bubbling water try throwing your fishing lure there. These spots have a higher rate of fish biting.

I cannot recommend enough cutting down trees on your farm to gather 50 pieces of wood and crafting a storage chest. This will save you so much headache before you can afford the backpack.

Another tip: all vegetables in the wrong season die immediatly, so crop them and study their grow time before the 28th day of the season!

This game actually inspires me to try harder at real life tasks.

You should have told people to gather 50 wood and craft a chest...

If you ever have kegs or cheese presses, use them. A LOT.

Wine is gives more money than selling the raw fruit itself, same goes with selling milk, but if you need a few extra gold, use a cask to age cheese or wine, it increases the price even more.

One other too I’d give to someone just starting out is start planting multiple crops at once and don’t sell every single one of that crop. Keep one or two.
It seems like a waste but later on in the game you’ll need a bunch for completing bundles in the community center.
On the topic of saving things, make sure to keep one of each item you can get in the game in a chest. In the late game, you’ll need specific items to complete requests and-Like I did- you’ll instantly regret your entire life choices seeing that you needed a void essence and ended up selling it years back and it’s not fun to go back to the mines and look for another one

This video has some good things, but these are important:

1. START ON A STANDARD FARM FOR BEST POTENTIAL.

2. SAVE ALL ITEMS FOR COMMUNITY CENTER AND QUESTS

3. FIND THE BEST CROPS FOR EACH SEASON, AND DONT LET THEM DIE ON YOU

4.USE TV FOR WEATHER CHANNEL, AND PLAN AHEAD TO UPGRADE TOOLS

5. ALWAYS CHECK TV FOR LUCK BECAUSE THEY ARE BEST DAYS FOR THE MINES

6. DONT WORRY ABOUT ANIMALS UNTIL THE SECOND YEAR

As soon as you hit your first season change, upgrade your watering can. With that done, hold down the action button next time you water crops. You're welcome.

Looking things up can be a life saver. Let's say you are in the second year in game. You are almost finished with the fishing bundles but you still lack the eel and the walleye from the night fishing bundle. This happened to me. Until I looked it up, I didn't know that you have to be in fall and it has to rain to be able to get them.

I feel so guilty when looking up things online. When I first played Stardew Valley (like 5 days ago), I bought a lot of seeds, plant them and water them, and then I slept, like I still almost have half of my energy and It's still 2pm. I recommend not wasting your time and just wait for your seeds to grow in the first day. I mean some people don't, but I'm really a noob back then so I didn't really know. You can always clear up your area for extra resources, go fishing for extra money, mine to grab valuable resources and upgrade your tools which makes life easier in the long run, you can also talk to people in the town and gift them flowers to boost their hearts. There's a lot of things you can do in the early game and I assure you that's worth it and it might be very overwhelming at first, like VERY but I am just saying this because I learned my lesson. I'm already on year 2 summer, and I still don't have the greenhouse, I know that a lot of newbies already experienced this and it's part of the gameplay which honestly makes you really learn. The last tip on this video is my REALLY REALLY recommended, don't feel bad when looking up things online because it sure is very overwhelming in the beginning of the journey. If you're a newbie player reading this, you're already doing a great job! You searched or pressed this video because you're interested and want to learn things more! I mean, I don't really have the privilege to give tips since I am also a newbie, but thank you for reading this ^_^
