It's funny how learning about your own native language, helps you to learn a new language. I'm a native English speaker, but I like to watch videos on learning English because the same teaching techniques and obstacles are the same for learning Spanish or French, etc. It's like reverse learning. It shows the very similar ways languages are constructed, then you can compare what you know in your native language to the new language to push through on grammar and verbs, vocabulary. It takes what's blind to you in your own language and makes it visible in the new language, you realize you've been doing the verb tenses and conjugations blindly all along in your own language. Thanks for your videos.

Dear Lisa! You are amazing! I have lived in the States for 23 years and worked very hard to polish my English but it took me a long time since I didn't have a teacher like you are! Thank you so much for your free videos!

Thanks a lot, teacher! I am Russian speaking. Here are the proverbs that I remembered: Without work, you cannot even catch a little fish from a pond (Без трудА не выловить и рыбку из прудА). Patience and labor will grind everything. (Терпение и трУд все перетрУт). Chinese proverb: "The path of a thousand li begins with the first step." I myself have been learning English all my fairly long life, and I am still on the verge of the first step. Your speech, dear Liza, I understand well enough. There is progress in listening. But it is still very difficult for me to speak. And from this stop in learning the language, I even began to learn German. I really love to learn foreign languages, but I have practically no plan.

In my past I taught English for 35 years. Currently I'm retired and it seems I need neither English nor your up-to-date methods of teaching any more. But you, dear teacher, inspire and motivate me to get absorbed in my life-work again and again. I take much delight in listening and watching you.
Thanks.

OMG,I immigrated here three years ago and have been so struggling with my expression in working environment, everyday I accumulated so much remorse about what I said in meetings, and cannot stop denying myself and eventually loosing confidence...till I came across this lesson, I actually get some strength from this soothing and comforting voice...I know there must be a lot of non-native expression in this paragraph, but I still want to say this, you are the best YouTube channel teaching people advanced English.

Great tips, Lisa! Everything you put it here makes all the sense. I used to be an English teacher in my country but I've been conscient that I would need to improve it as I had to prepare my classes. Another tips that I use to give to my students was that if they started to think of something, they should just turn into the languge they were learning, since it happens that something you have a context that you might wonder " Oh Gosh, how would I talk about that in a English country? Even if we feel that we can express in another language in many ways: For example: The other day I went to a mechanic garage and the professional was explaining a malfunction in my car, something in my own language and I would no idea about it even in my native language, and then I tohught "how would I understand if I were in an English speaking country? Then I decided to look for car mechanic terminology in English. Knowledge is infinite, but it doesn't mean that we need to get desperate, but just learn the most that we can from that context. No w I'm working in another area and i 'm learning the technical terms about it.

When I'm watching some of your videos it is like if I was watching someone speaking in my native language, because you speak so clearly that makes me understand easily what you're saying. Thanks for sharing with us these amazing tips and beautiful messages. Thanks from Brazil 👏🏻🌸
