Finally, a big screen Mac that doesn't cost over 2 grand.

The guy has been pining for a 15 inch Air for 10 years and now says its probably not gonna be a laptop you want to carry after 5 days. John Ternus is rolling his eyes saying 'What do you want man?'

As a fan of 15 inch PCs for years since my first computer as a teen, I’ve been wanting a 15 inch MacBook and it looks like I am finally getting one.

“I wanted a 15” MacBook Air, but I’ll still use the 13” model.” 😅

Ideal size for a MacBook air, and the price is spot on.

Finally, an affordable 15 inch that doesn't cost much more money like the Pro line that only ever had the large screens. What I like about how Apple does things is their products are the same level of quality across the board, even if you're getting the lower end iPad, Macbook, iPhone, etc. The only time you ever really need to upgrade to a higher level is if you are using it for a more intense purpose.

Personally, I still use the very original silver Macbook Air with the light up Apple logo. It's a little heavy, but I've had this beast for over 5 years+ and it is still running great. The key is to just take good care of it.

The price is what blew me away. Upgrading the ram and ssd to equal the 14” pro, you’re now looking at a $300 difference, while getting an extra inch of screen. 🤔. Of course you lose out on HDR, ports, 120hz, more future-proofed higher memory bandwidth and processor.. but you get an extra inch of screen. Of course I’m going to wait for M3, but a 15” MacBook for $1300.. is quite tempting.. a thousand less than a pro with upgrades ram and ssd.. which I won’t even need in the near future, but would need down the road.

The problem is, once you upgrade the RAM and Storage (the latter of which you should), it's very close to the 14 inch Macbook Pro base model with better specs, 120Hz display, and more i/o.

Hit the nail on the head, 15" on old eyes is one mightily selling point. Can't keep buying x2 x2.5 x3 reading glasses. I feel like Mr Magoo

Macbook Air only makes sense if you're happy with specs of the base model, once you upgrade either the RAM or storage, the price is in Pro territory.

This will be a good buy when it is refurbished or goes on sale. I bought the M2 air when it first came out with 512GB just to have it one week later the 14 pro at Best Buy buy became the same price. I still like my air and the M2 shreds, but it is what it is

No more tapered edges.. I really liked how that distinguished it.

Now just looks like a pro, with different internals

in college, everyone had the 13 inch MacBooks. I wonder with this new pricing and larger 15in screen if this will be the new MacBook to sweep throughout colleges in the fall.

I've read Dan Ackerman and Bridget Carey 10 years ago. Glad to see they're still around. Great journalists.

I'm writing this response on my 11 inch MBA. I LOVE that this device weights 2ibs. I bought a iPad Air last year because I thought it would aid me in a film workflow. It's doesn't replace my 11 inch MBA.

Now that the Air has dropped by $100, I think these laptops are almost everything they need to be. It’s definitely their mainstream laptop now. It does make that 13” Pro that much more irrelevant.

Kinda disappointed that they didn’t put a third USB-C port on the right side of the new Mac like the Pro versions have.
It is unbelievable practical if you can charge or use ports from both sides.

Long-time CNET fan. The first thing I thought when I saw the new Air in the keynote was, "Dan Ackerman's going to love this."
