Cr Tdi No start part 2

Here's part two diag on a 2009 Jetta Tdi with CBEA engine and it starts up then dies. Its not a immo issue but we lack any kind of direction as there is no codes. We start through the FAST-TEC acronym for no start diagnosis.

For those that "nailed it" (guessed the right diag) in the comments of the last video, you are definitely NOT gonna fall for the banana in the tailpipe. You are better men than I!

The suspense had me on the edge of my seat! I thought it was the anti shutter valve.

Bonjour,
Bonne continuation monsieur

My 2011 golf tdi has similar mileage right now, but mostly freeway miles. At around 224k miles it died on me. Then it would crank, no start, no codes. I had another car so only worked on it on my free time on and off for a few months. First check for hpfp failure, no metal specks. Pull the top of hpfp apart verified piston and check valve.Replace fuel filter. Specified and actual fuel pressure was good. Check fuel pressure from lift pump and aux electric pump. Check injector timing with scope and relative compression. Check ASV with the output test and removing that hose. Check timing and it seemed okay, replace timing belt, water pump and coolant anyway since it was due. Tried Priming the fuel system many times. Then I read about and tried removing the piping to the egr valve like you and it started. Checked the exhaust valve and it was working. Finally remove the intake pipe to the turbo and found that it failed and the compressor seize stuck to the side of housing preventing the impeller from turning on the exhaust side. It was pain to replace the turbo, with the help YouTube channels like yours I was able to diagnose and finally repair it.

This is another cool methodological diagnosis. a viewer like me wouldnt mind if its more than 15 min long. but do as you need to please your algorithmic overlords 🙂
this reminds me of the time my wife drove my 2001 civic and while on the freeway and it just stopped suddenly dead on its tracks while doing 65. it wouldnt even turn over no matter what. In the end we found that the catalytic medium had melted solid (probable cause was rich or lean fuel mix) and because of repeated starting attempts, we also broke the boss on the block that held the timing belt tensioner. fun times. got rid of the car soon as i rebuilt the engine.

Just picked up a 14 tdi with about 110k on it. I've put 2k on it and it's been running perfect until.... today i went to start it and it turned over then nothing. Flashing glow plug light. Tried again after work and it idled a bit then died. Did this several times. Thanks for the tips in this video, wish i lived closer to Kansas city! 😂

wow that a good one ...neven seen that before engin that stop running after 5 sec ...so diesel need more air than gas engine make sence because they have more compression ratio than gas .thanks for video love it

So it was a " banana " ;)
Thanks again

Another great video, thanks;
Seen that a few times over here ((in pos Portugal where the INjustice syst lol sucks big time)); another hit by the emissionsnutz, nearly 1000 of them up there in Brussels making a killing t 50 000 euro a month EACH, with the DPF on top of all else; for info, the Canada fires alone, this year only, have put out a Thousand Million Tons of CO2 up inthe air, and they are worried about cars that burn VERY clean already; nutz!

No, that looks like a banana in the tail pipe.

Cool diagnosis, so it looked like there was enough exhaust released thru the EGR pipe to allow it to run .. it kinda ran poorly but know I can see why. Would love to see how to remove and reinstall a new DPF. So what is the fault on the ECU from the DPF? How is that triggered? Is it a pressure differential sensor if there is inlet pressure to the DPF does it throw the fault? Great job guys 👍🏻 I have CJAA that’s running bad right now in ‘13 Jetta I suspect it’s related to to that filter

I like long learning ..i had a dpf issue. Had a rebuild by dealer for my 2015 diesel manual tdi...and had issues for the regeneration

No it’s a random thing 😢😅 I was like hurray and damn

Great video of looking into how diesels work by air and how important it is on diesels could you of looked at dpf pressure senser and seen if that was reading high I presume it's got a pressure senser for dpf

My 2011 tdi 1.6 same problem. Started with glow plug indication on the dash. Diagnostics tool brought up " fuel injector circuit but all 4 gave 12v. I have replaced all 4 glow plugs. But still same issue. Wants to start, sounds normal but it just wouldn't start. Before that the engine ran but sounded very rough. Now its just not starting anymore.

I am having the exact same symptoms on my 2011 Sportwagen. Looks like I have somewhere to start now. DPF is definitely not an issue on my vehicle though...

Good video for learning purposes! Maybe it was "FAST" if you measured the differential pressure on the DPF with VCDS. I'm sure it was a big one given the fact that there was an error on the DPF!

Does the scantool show rail pressure, MAP, MAF and DPF pressure? Unless the refresh rate is poor, it will give good direction on what needs testing
