AGAIN, the Merer ledger (papyrus jarf) has accounts of the building as well as orders for stone etc. It details the site including the mortuary complex around the pyramids. It also has an account of Merer meeting one if the building overseers.

Okay, the only critique I have of this guys stance is his use of the word “Kemet.” Kemet wasn’t a group of people before the Egyptians, Kemet, or more accurately Khemet, was the name of the country before the Greeks translated it as “Eagyptica”, which is translated into English as “Egypt”.

Not entirely unfounded: Mastabas (stepped piramids) trace their development to tumuli graves (a single 'step' mastaba), so it stands to reason that the great piramids are just a next step (no pun intended) in their evolution.

The absense of mummies can be explained by a relocation event after grave robbing incidents, which is not unreasonable given the high profile of these buildings.

The absense of decoration is very suspicious though; we should investigate whether or not these have been cleared as well - but the complete absense is not a good sign to start out with.
