And then Modify Memory to make them think that you had just pitched yourself as a great advisor

Politicians have a natural intelligence score of 1 you don’t need any feeble minding.

Fun fact! While kalaraq quori do this kind of thing a lot in eberron as part of their main gameplan to manipulate humanity, in previous editions mind seed was a LOT more of a risky ability. Instead of turning the creature into a thrall, it used to *make a copy of your own personality.* So while the mind seeded humanoid had a kalaraq’s own fanatical devotion to the quori collective, there was always the chance they went rogue. So you would instead have a politician with all the skills and knowledge of an immortal dream spirit

"Cast Feeblemind on your politician of choice."
*The politician still acts the same*
"Well, that's depressing... and explains a lot."

A politician probably has close to commoner stats, feeblemind does 4d6 psychic damage, so itll probably kill them since you can only make melee attacks do non-lethal damage. So just be prepared to revivify them as well

Sounds like a great idea for a second or third BBEG for after the first falls to fill the Power Vacuum, possibly even have to the party either knew them or semi unwittingly set them up to do this with clues along the way that, looking back they would be able to see it after the fact. And uprooting the secret army would leave plenty of options for story growth weeding them out

Whoever's in charge here forgot to cast restoration.

Lore wise, being a level 20 elven Druid is effectively being a god. They live really long and can control the weather and occasionally bring people back to life. It’s crazy

Honestly by that level you'll have so much money you can just bribe the guy

So be at least level 17, be in an Eberron campaign and know what a Kalaraq-whatever even is. Simple!

Cast greater restoration" Whelp, guess they're no longer under my control.

Or just cast Geas. Much cheaper, just remember to recast it every month.
They'll still have their own mind and personality, but they'll have to obey your instruction under threat of death, assuming they have commoner stats.

Now that's a Zhentarim plot right there... Nice.
