This is literally a *6TH GRADE* problem

D is also the only answer above 90 degrees 😂

I did it differently. (a+b)+a+(a-b) = 3a = 180 degrees. a = 60 degrees. a = 60 degrees = 2b. b = 30 degrees. a-b = 60-30 = 30 degrees. x = 180-30 = 150 degrees.

UK high school: 2nd order differential equations, complex numbers and Gaussian elimination

US high school: 180 degrees in a triangle

Algebraically, it makes sense. Visually, ain’t no way a+b 90 degrees😭

x is has an obtuse angle, it has to be greater than 90 degrees. No math is needed since the only answer greater than 90 is D. 150 degrees.

Since there's not a note saying 'drawing not to scale' you can infer the angle is larger than 90° making 150 the only possible answer.

“Most SAT takers get this wrong”
I have a hard time believing that

What I wanted to see is how in the world it is that most SAT takers get this question wrong. 1) I immediately knew how to solve it without having taken any such test or question in like 20 years and 2) once I calculated the answer and looked down at the choice I see there's only one choice that's greater than 90 degrees or anywhere close to the answer. Like the choice is D. Why would anyone get this wrong?

I literally studied this in the 7th grade and this is a quite long solution, the solution we learnt to problem such as these were outside angle equals inside angle and studf like that

You don’t even have to solve this using algebra, can solve in 2 seconds. X is greater than a 90 degree angle and the others are less than 90, so just pick 150 automatically.

simpler method:
X=obtuse angle
obtuse angles>90 degrees
d is the only option above 90 degrees so its d)150

If a = 2b,
Assuming,
A + a+b + a-b = 180 (Sum of all triangles is 180 degrees)
Converting a into 2b

2b + 2b+b + 2b-b =180

2b+ 3b + 1b =180

6b=180

B=180 by 6

B = 30

So, x + 30 =180

So, x =180-30

Therefore, s = 150

Well, you all ready know its not 50, 60, or 70!

Honestly I just saw that the first 3 choices are less than 90° which automatically eliminates them as x is clearly an obtuse angle.

Im pretty sure that because there is no degree markers then youd either have to assume radians or say x =5b. Mistake on the SATs part.

(also u can use exteriror angles, but this is definitely a good way)
