We've been working super hard to get this demo out for you folks so you can finally see the fuller version of our little dice game :)

It's about 2-3 hours long right now (which is a bit insane for a demo oops) and includes the entire first region of the game - The Domino Den! Can't wait for you all to experience it 🎲 💝

Players: hey i found an exploit
Dev: you found the solution

My favorite line in Spellsided is when the dice said, "Man, I sure am sided with my spells."

In addition, it requires it to be the only enemy on the field, if there is a different enemy, things change as well

That's like saying dodging a boss in a dark souls game is exploiting

Finding things that seem unintentional is part of the fun.
Like the infinite one up glitch in super mario that turns out they intentionally put in the game

When I faced Jack in the demo I was so happy to figure out the pattern to his meltdown bc I felt really smart and happy.
I pretty bad at puzzle games so finding moments like these is really fun

Crypt of the Necrodancer really rewards understanding boss loops - like any other game similar to it, but I can't describe the excitement I felt when I realized the movements for the dragons are ALL similar. The green one doesn't have a harmful projectile, the red dragon breathes a horizontal fireball and the blue one has a cone shaped ice breath. If you don't enter their field of "breath", you're safe. If you need to switch directions, just sidestep and go down or up immediately to step out of their reach. It's so simple when you realize it!

''Hey guys there's that exploit in tetris if you have the same color on an entire row the row just disappears''

That reminds me of games like Pokemon, where there is always a team composition or other ways to just annihilate gym leaders or the elite four.
Many people just don't do these in a regular playthrough, but finding these after analysing the team, or just looking it up on the internet isn't an exploit either, it's also just a strategy or another way to play the game!

This is like a rubixs dice. If you find and use the correct algorythm, you beat the game

I think the pattern for the complicated boss could be extended horizontally bei just going the other way having the boss flip back and forth the whole time it isn't really different but it might be useful if there are obstacles in the way or something of that sort

This reminds me how in Punch Out for the NES, Don Flamenco had an infinite that was probably a bug, but the devs for the Wii version specifically put that exact infinite into the game, and also created a new one for the harder version of the character. The average player probably won't find it, but if they do they deserve to be rewarded

Just gotta make sure the loop is still fun to find and execute. It can be a problem in games if the optimal strategy isn't the most fun strategy

There is a bug where the game glitches if you put dash and another thing on the same face, it only happens if you put them in a specific order but I forgot which

Ah yes. The red dragon dance from Necrodancer. That one was a bit tricky to learn for me.
