As an Australian I found many things in Latvia so different to Australian culture. We tried living a day more like a local and this is how the day turned out!

We, latvians, feed birds for as much as possible and then they become giant crows and make up half of the population.

Ha, ha do you really think that the same guards are standing somewhere all day long? They are changing every hour and it`s enough spectacular to watch how they do that. Have seen that in Riga. That is a great honour to be chosen, those guards belong to elite troops of National Armed Forces. They are on duty also near the President Palace.

"caif" is a stylized version of the word "kaifs", which is a slang from Russian language, but originating in Kyrgyzstan. It means "to be high on something that gives you a lot of pleasure". But people also use it when their adrenaline is high (e. g. when driving fast, parachuting etc.)

Also, today was a lovely sunny day in Riga, and it was so beautiful! Sadly, I was in a rush, but I still managed to enjoy the beauty of Old Riga, even if I was working.

It's unbelievable that I'm usually just walking through those streets every day and not appreciating the surroundings, and then one day I just look up and everything else does not matter - I just enjoy the city and forget about everything else. I wish I had more of it.

Loving those Xmas jumpers, 'Oh deer!' is brilliant. Rachel's snow angel was very brave, you needed that hot drink to warm up! Riga looks soooo cold!! Your shopping is very similar to ours, clever basics haha 😂

Well, you can have a picknick in a park, not sure about the very center though, however on Lucavsala island there are free tables and barbeques, just bring your own coal and food, but that's for another season, and it's more like public recreation area than park there - playgrounds for kids, basketball fields, a beach and picknic areas. So... I'd say one might go for a picknick in Uzvaras park, that's where a lot of sakura trees grow, over 140 of them, but they are still small and bloom around the end of April, which is 2-3 weeks later than in Japan. Sakura trees are there because Kobe in Japan is Riga's sister city, there is also little park named "Kobe garden", besides Kobe made a gift to Riga - a clock in a shape of metal pillar near the Acadmy of Art and Art museum.

Its the best feeling to enter 110 degrees sauna after you have been icefishing whole day. Sauna is like our little Australia..

I think you already notice in the equator all year around there is almost on  different between day and night. If you move north or south the different is gating bigger. Then on north pool is 24 h night and on south pool 24 h day. In 6 month will change up side down.

6:21 I understand that this video is 2 years old but i just wanted to say something about this. They do not stand there for the whole day. They stand there for 1 hour and then they switch with other freedom guards.

(*Nick [ re: the - truly adorable - 'penguin' jumper ]): "...It's probably for a 13 year old girl; but I'd still wear it." That was marvellous, Nick; i loved it - really, "good on ya" ({; D ....! I'd thought a few of of those jumpers were pretty fun...and, because they were a bit tacky, they were actually sort of cool at the same time; one could make them work - in 'fashion terms'!! Riga certainly is an extremely attractive and good-looking city, for sure; but, had Rachel mentioned something about its being somewhat "...dangerous", in spots? She seemed to say it so much 'in passing' that i couldn't actch be sure; i do hope it isn't so...?!! Another fab video: thank you both ({: D ....!!! <3 / <3

What did you mean by saying that Riga is the most neutral city you have ever been?
