5:37 you don't have to lower the max input of the brakes to 80% in the controls setting, on most sims you can adjust brake pressure for the specific car you are using on the setup options. if the car is too sensitive to braking hard you can just decrease the brake pressure until you can go almost floor deep with the pedal without locking in high speed

The fact that both claim to be realistic *simulations* but apply very different physics at the same time is actually weird

This is interesting and something that I’ve never thought about. I logged between 500-1000 hours in ACC before switching to iRacing, and I would say this is 100% spot on. I didn’t even know what trail braking was before ACC and it quickly became the most important technique. iRacing on the other hand is a combination of much more, with a lot more emphasis on the initial pressure. Awesome vid.

Speaking from personal experience. I've been driving a lot of AMS2's Brazilian Stock Cars and I've found that I could take lessons I learned from AMS2 BSC into iRacing's BSC. So I think AMS2 and iRacing are more similar to each other than these other group of sims.

I was gunning for good times on the AMS2 leaderboard and when I jumped back into iRacing in their Brazilian Stock Cars for a league I suddenly found myself way faster without any practice, applying the same lessons.

I think that says something about iRacing and the current AMS2 V1.4

ACC is literally designed to simulate GT3s which have more or less the most advanced TC and ABS systems in motorsporting, meaning the way how you use them has to be way different than games like iRacing trying to emulate shitty road car abs and applying it to all kinds of different cars, if you have ever been in real GT3 car you'd be absolutely infurated by how bad the represenation is of those cars in game, however I'd assume that for many other categories its much more realistic (ACC doesn't have other categories really (only GT4 and some cups) people forget)

I respect the approach both ACC and iRacing take towards car handling. And since the Automobilista 2's 1.4 update, I really like that as well. I do feel iRacing could be a little more forgiving in the braking zone, yet it is my favorite sim. I am not nearly at your level (I've seen some of your races), but I would agree with your descriptions of the differences between the sims braking techniques. Excellent video!

Another great vid. I really struggle moving between titles and it’s always the braking I suffer with. Cool to understand the reasons why this is so.

Jamie Fluke from Apex told me how rF2 and ACC have similar driving habits like braking and steering, and that iRacing is the furthest removed from the way all the other sims behave.

I just joined a league in ACC coming from iRacing so I recently learned the ACC way of braking.

At first I was trying to trail brake smoothly and trying not to trigger the ABS just like you have to do in iRacing and it worked, but I saw other drivers braking later than me and still making the corner.
Then I understood that in ACC, the ABS is very forgiving and you actually have to lean on it at the starting phase of trail braking for the optimal entry.

I personally prefer the iRacing way of trail braking because it gives you more finesse and control on the car. You can induce more or less rotation with your brake release. In ACC, you just stomp and let the ABS do the work.

iRacing is more difficult in my opinion but way more satisfying when you get it right. From what I've heard however, real life GT3 drivers actually do lean a lot on the ABS and TC, so ACC seems to be more realistic.

To each his own. I enjoy both games regardless 🙂

That Ai ford gt at 5:32. The ai in Iracing is the best i've ever seen in a sim game, probably any racing game for that matter.

AMS2 behaviour feels the most realistic to me in general, but for specific gt3 cars, acc has the most accurate representation

The best advice for new sim racers I've seen since getting mine .I 'm on PlayStation so no race room for me but I've got AC ACC drive club Dirt Rally 2..0 and of course GT7 and GT sport .As you say the breaking is a big deal and I'm struggling a little to get used to my T LCM brakes after driving on a controller for years but sure I'll get used to it .I cant get my T GT II to work with ACC out of the box tho .I'm certain it's not rocket science and I'll get it righy.Spending the evening building my F GT cockpit and hopefully that'll bring it all together and I can start getting quicker lol

Great video and very instructive.
This channel give a very high vision of simracing.
In france we are so ridiculous with poor arguments when it comes Iracing vs ACC :(

There's a YT video of a pro GT3 driver that said that ACC braking is nothing like in real GT3 car. He said it's a fun game, but not really realistic in braking feeling... :) it's a big general chaos regarding braking in racing games.

For me the struggle to go from rFactor 2 (GTE, LMP2 and Formula cars) to iRacing is not the braking, but the FFB and seat of the pants effect. I can't get that feeling of edge of the grip in iRacing, which I can get very easily in rFactor 2. For me, that is the hardest part.

Both are great! Fun factor is there on both, still find myself preferring iracing. Probally because I've been on it for so long, pity its so so expensive.. ACC is becoming way to popular to ignore... Great insite! Subbed

Personally, I prefer the braking technique required for iRacing but you must take into account the major difference between both ACC and iRacing and that is ACC is made purely for GT cars where as iRacing is GT plus everything else. The whole this pro drive said this is more realistic and this pro driver said that is realistic is kind of pointless. Ask Jenson Button for instance. When he drove the 720s in the British GT in 2020 he was seconds off the pace compared to the pro GT drivers. Why... Because of braking. He was used to braking a little lighter and modulating them in a certain way in order to driver a formula 1 car fast (no abs)(iRacing style) where as the pro GT drivers were used to stamping on the brake and letting the electronics do the work (ABS)(ACC style).

GT cars require an almost completely different braking technique to almost all over race cars and that's due to the electronics. So ACC has the most realistic GT braking system out of them all where as iRacing has the most realistic in terms of all other race cars.

However, take my view with a pinch of salt as I've never raced a GT car or a Formula 1 car only a striped down Ford Focus and BMW 330i.

Nice video simple and fast to the point!Brake in the right point and learn how the cars feel wen you brake is really the win card! But you need a lot of practice!Grettings 🇨🇭and just a new sub!👋👍

Potential braking topic: how to achieve and practice the lovely brake pedal telemetry curves you see with very fast and consistent drivers
