Reality: Naruto didn't understand a singe thing from the message and it didn't help literally nothing at all in the battle against Pain, he just remembered the message AFTER he figured out on his own, so Yeah Jiraya's sacrifice was pretty much for nothing, but I guess a shinobi takes every chance he can get
