I am so excited that this worked! It was so frustrating that email links would work on my phone but not my laptop and no one I talked to had this problem. Weird that it would have to be a choice in what I perceive to be a scavenger hunt mystery box but just happy to find the answer! Thank you!

Thank you. This fixed my problem swiftly. I'd spent 30 minutes looking at other videos on this topic and none addressed by issue of the service handler icon not appearing. Also, the Google help on this topic...at least that I could find...was complex and entirely unhelpful.

The look of the chrome interface has changed seen in this video, but the solution shown still works. Thanks a LOT. I don't remember how I found this site, but I'm delighted that I did. Why did this just start happening to me, where no email links will open in Chrome? This didn't fix it.

just tried to do this and the same error that comes up when you try to open a hyperlink came up.. "safari can't open the specified address"

I have the opposite intention: How do you DISABLE Gmail links from using Google Chrome instead of another browser that is set to default?

Please can anyone tell me how to do this. Until a few days ago( perhaps after the Gmail or chrome update?) I can no longer share links solely via chrome. What happens is:
before: I used to click share for a link, the Gmail email to page opens, I click send & it went back to the web page, after a few seconds, said SENT at bottom of my chrome browser
Now: tgesame procedure but it won't get sent on Chrome, I stead, the NEXT TIME I OPEN THE GMAIL APP it gets sent!?

Any idea what can be the cause please? Thank you
