Rare books are the best additions to personal library’s. Love to see them, and even better to see one pulled and read.

Very nice haul. I haven't read Colleen McCullough in quite a while. Richard and John sounds so good.

Nicholas Blake was the mystery pen name for Cecil Day-Lewis. Probably most famous now for being Daniel’s Dad.

Marcus Corvinus. Good old days. How many jugs of wine we split. No wonder he took such liberties with grammar. Oh, well, I might just revisit after I paid a long surprise visit to Decius Caecilius Metellus then I might stay with Emersons for a really-really long bit.

In The Lion in Winter: Why does no one mention Geoffrey for King?

Because you've been dead five years, Geoffrey!

Hello, Steve. I just found your channel. It is nice to meet a fellow book enthusiast, and one from my old home town. It is also nice to know the Brattle Bookshop still exists. I used to go there starting when I was in Highschool in the 1950s. It was located near City Hall then moved to a small street between the Park Street and Boylston Metro Stations. Cant remember the name. I thought it had gone out of business many years ago. Where are they located now. Nice reviews. BTW C. Day'Lewis did a nice translation of the Aneid which I read when I was in college At B.U. I recalled, when you mentioned the novels were written by a poet. I thought it was Kenneth Fearing, but later remembered it was Day'Lewis, both good poets ad also novelists that dabbled in crime fiction.

I have a goal to read The First Man in Rome this year. I want to read more Colleen McCullough after enjoying The Thorn Birds so much!

I've had The Song of Troy by Colleen McCullough for years now, but haven't been inspired to read it yet. Would you recommend?
