Gorilla Glue White - Does it Work with Polymer Clay?

Показать описание

I get a lot of questions regarding which glue to use on polymer clay, especially when attaching something like a metal glue-on bail that needs a very strong bond.

I had heard that Gorilla Glue worked on polymer clay, so I decided to test it myself. Several months ago I glued metal bails to some polymer clay heart pendants I made as samples for our Street Hearts Tutorial.

After several months, I could see they looked fine... no bad reactions or stickiness around the bail. And they appeared to be still stuck to the clay.

Today I wanted to test the strength of the bond... to be sure of it's long term compatibility with polymer clay. I was really impressed with the how strong this Gorilla Glue turned out to be, as you will see in the video.

Thank you Cindy and Doug for all of your work and efforts for the polymer clay community. As always wonderful information, instruction, and good overall coverage of the materials being tested. I have been watching your videos a lot and believe you have a great way of presenting the information. You are Smart and Entertaining and attractive. Please don't let any negative comments bother you. I have never noticed any lip smacking or anything else that distracts from learning and enjoying the videos. Thank you for all you do for us!!

I used to use this stuff all the time with wood. It's amazing, and I'm STOKED to know it doesnt react badly with polymer!
Thanks, Cindy :D

Thank you! I just used some of this glue for the first time....but, the outer packaging was not available to me and I had no idea that it was going to foam! Had a panic moment when I came back to find my leather and metal wire connections had foamed up and turned white!? I cleaned it up as well as I could and then searched online....and found your video. Very helpful as I also work in polymer clay!

Thank you for this. I just learned that the metal bails on which I'd used E6000 keep falling off my polyclay pendants and was not a happy camper. But now I know how to fix it, yay!

Never seen that kind of glue, incredible that it foams to fill up gaps, I wish it was available in Spain! Very interesting info

I've used gorilla glue on some of my clay charms. It works great! I was really worried about my charms coming off the pins but the gorilla glue expands into the charm and bonds the pin in place. Like you said though, you have to be careful about it foaming out. I have little bubbles on top of some of the first ones I did, but it's the best thing I've found to secure them so far.

I'm just about to use gorilla glue to re-fix some pieces on a fairy village I'm making for my niece for Christmas. The glue I used originally is a touch bendy...a bit like school glue but sets a bit stronger when it's been in the oven. My gorilla glue is brown, not white. I think I'll try it on a spare bit of clay before I go using it on the actual project as I don't want brown frothy stuff coming out...I'll try not taking the glue right to the edge so when it foams up, it has free space to expand but not peek out between the fairy house and door. Your tutorials are brilliant! I watch another lady from Russia, but have no clue what she's saying...other than pasta machine 😊 Anyway, thank you for your tutorials. I have the artistic talent of a lettuce leaf, but I have managed to make things that look like they're supposed to, thanks to your vids and advice.

Hi Candy, just thought I’d tell you that the white Gorilla Glue states on the box that it is no foam as compared to the brown one which does foam. I didn’t realise that gorilla glue could be used with polymer clay. Thanks again for your great informative videos, I love receiving them every month. Hugs from South 🇦🇺

Thank you for the video. I've always wondered if it would work so I might test it out. :)

Hi, would a "cheese" cutting wire be any good for cutting polymer clay canes please? Thank you for your brilliant tutorials. Best wishes, Karen

Thank you. I really like your way of explaining. You are awesome 😊. I used your tips and techniques in my mind and my first project went great 🥰
I want to know....I have some empty metal cabochon earnings metal base with their earrings french lever hooks attached on them and I want to try clay on it. What do you suggest?
1-Can I place my clay piece on that metal base and bake it ?
2- or Should I bake my clay piece seperately and use gorilla glue on that to stick on my base later ?
If i go with option 1- then how will I use your techniques (placing on card stock)
please please guide me. I will really appreciate it 😊

I have used the Gorilla Super Glue (the Gel) and have had very good results with it. I'll check ot the white glue you tested. I know Wal-Mart carries it. Thank you!

Can Elmers glue work to stick paper to flat polymer clay? (I already checked the internet but didn't get anything other than them saying to use it as liquid clay because that's what they used to do before liquid clay was invented, but i'm not baking the glue on just trying to stick paper to clay).

I have a problem. So I've been making little color squares of each of the Premo color lines including my own color mixes. My plan was to then attach sticker labels on the back of them with pen writing the name of the color on the sticker labels. The problem is i noticed some of my failed calligraphy batches that i stored with my test baked clays transferred to those baked clays. I didn't just immediately add the labels with still wet pen ink to my clay bag they were written on them months in advance, so the inks are dry and not sticky but they still transferred anyway.

I still want to do the labels on the back thing with pen writings on them but i know they'll transfer onto other polymer clays the moment i line them Infront of another clay because i want to store them together in a line in a box standing Infront of each other to save on space. I think it might be the type of paper the labels are made of, the paper is slightly shiny and doesn't tear at all so the ink probably is sitting on top of the paper not getting absorbed and the excess is getting on to the clays.

It wouldn't be a problem if i could remove the transferred ink with alcohol or bleach but i tried and it doesn't rub off at all, and i don't want to use acetone because id end up doing it all the time and removing too much of the surface of my clay!

My new idea is to use regular printer plain paper with the same pen since the pens tend to adhere drier to those papers, but how do i glue them to the clay itself? My idea is to use Elmers glue since i want it to act like a regular sticky label on the clay rather than something super permanent like E6000... Would Elmers glue keep something like paper attached to flat polymer clay?

My only other options are craft glue sticks but i'm not sure that would work since they tend to be so weak, and whatever the adhesive they use on actual stickers, but i don't know what glue they use for them. I'm going to write on regular paper and place the inked side onto a baked clay for a month to see if it still transfers like it does with the label. If it does then i give up on that and will figure out something else. I just wanted the labels badly because it's so fast and easy to label baked clays over all the other ways to label a piece of baked clay.

Thanks for the help. I used GG several time, not in PC but in gluing glass to a tray (for a 3 tier unit for more storage). The glue went all over and dripped down the glass. Good thing I wasn’t making a gift for anyone! 🤪. I’ll try it again, only this time, using a dab of the glue. lol
