Xperia Camera Experience - Pro i / 1 IV / 5 IV

My experience taken photos and videos with Sony Xperia Pro i, 1 IV & 5 IV throughout the months and my vacation.

What do you think about Sony Xperia phones for taking photos & videos?

Nice video and I have the Xperia 1ii which I myself took on vacation and agree the photos from the device are very nice and good quality. It‘s nice to see the comparison between the devices and can‘t wait for the next generation with 5G and other features to come from Sony. I still use xperia xz premium now. It's works buttery smooth and has a great camera

I still love the Pro-I's 1" camera, but my pick has to be the 1 iv. While both the 1 iv and 5 iv has 4K/120fps support across all three camera, the 1 iv's continuous variable zoom camera got my thumbs up.

The only time I ever went on a vacation without a real camera was with an Xperia 1 mk1. It did great (if I don't pixel peep too much). Xperias just produce photos much more similar to real cameras than any other phone I've tried and I love this about them. The last days I've been going back and forth between my Xperia 5 Mk4 and s22 ultra (which takes almost comically overprocessed images) and I'll likely let go of the Samsung.

I wish Sony can release Pro-I next version being little more jack of all trades. 1 inch sensor is great but add more aperture steps (2.0 is not bright enough). Combine it with ultrawide angle able to take macros and tele, if not like in 1 IV, like in 1 III. And you have it. handy phone, with notification diode, expandable memory, easy SIM tray opening combined with great natural looking camera experience.

It has headphone jack and sd cars slot with a flagship processor. I am more than happy to buy just for that.

totally agree that color science on Xperia series is really good, but i wonder the AF problem on Xperia 1IV has been fixed after recent updates.

I bought a xperia 5 iv through logitel. It was surprisingly affordable and I was happy to take it in but after using the camera for 2 minutes it started giving me "Error: Unknown Error" messages with no camera app working anymore. I tried to restore the device via Sonys software which failed halfway through. That bricked the entire phone as it now displays a corrupt bootloader message when trying to start it.

I asked for a replacement and sent it in but that was exactly 2 weeks ago. So yeah, really shitty experience :/

Thanks for the Infos. For me, 5IV clearly won over Zenfone9. Did you also experience issues with the face softening not being able to be disabled?

Watching from my Xperia 5 iii . I'm impressed with the 4k.stabilisation on this device. But the full telephoto when zooming to full extent is rubbish

Has any of the recent OS updates fixed the overheating issue on Pro-i or any of these phones? I just watched your "Xperia Pro i - Overheating issue" from 8 months ago and I don't know if I should buy the Pro-i today or not. Thanks for the great videos!

I WISH I could use mine the cine app is useless..slow needs at least 20 minutes to change any setting...a course on which app to use ...I don't think the Sony one can be used at all

Zoom on Xperia 1 IV is not sharp enough, we should have our money back lol
