Through the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has set a goal of reducing new HIV infections in the U.S. by 90% by 2030. This can be accomplished by scaling up key HIV prevention and treatment strategies, including use of the proven intervention pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

In December 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated some sections of the PrEP Clinical Practice Guideline by incorporating recent actions on PrEP medications and clarifying specific aspects of clinical care in order to improve usability and increase implementation of the guideline.

In this webinar, CDC Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) Director Dr. Demetre Daskalakis will provide an overview of the updated PrEP guideline and supplement. He will explain how they reflect the latest science and are intended to help clinicians effectively prescribe all FDA-approved PrEP medications and increase PrEP use among all who could benefit.
