PrEP has made headlines recently—and the messages haven't always been clear. Watch this video to get the facts about how PrEP works and see three PrEP myths busted.

I had an hiv scare last year. I immediately went to the clinic, they put me on prep. And 30 days later i was tested, no hiv. It works! No side affects.

At 19 years old I just started PrEP 4 days ago and couldn’t be happier, no real side effects besides nausea but that’s to be expected for the first week. It’s amazing how far science has come.

It's amazing how quickly medicine advances. Since this video came out, the number of medicines used for PrEP has gone from 1 to 3! Some protocols do not even need daily PrEP!

most people on PrEP would never have contracted HIV is how it appears. & the 'high risk individuals' category is a pretty wide net.

I took prep for a month because a friend of a relative had a dirty needle in her bag(she is a junkie) and she came over to my aunts place with my relative and I was talking to her and I use my hands alot when I talk and I hit her hand bag with my hand and got pricked.
So I went to hospital and told them what happened and she was a high risk for hiv and I found out later she didn't have hiv so I didn't even need it but oh well peace of mind is better than taking the chance.
The side affects were bad for me but that's because I have liver damage so if you have a bad liver don't take it every day, only take it when you are at risk.

Truvada is not the only approved PEP, I was giving Atripla, which some doctors believe is even more effective.

+YourekaScience I absoutelly loved your video and was planning to do an informative video about this topic in the Catalan language and Spanish for its diffusion in Barcelona and the surrounding areas.

Can I use your video to do so? I would obviously link it to the original version and to your youtube channel and give credit to the original creators.

Thank you in advance,
Emrys.

If you know, how does truvada block hiv reverse transcriptase .

How does it detect it in the first place.

Also, are there tests so someone could know if the prep levels in your body are sufficient.

Pre play 10s check, check yourself for groin sores, hemmroids, and if sharing needle is planned or any scar tissue caused by these 3 symptoms. Low risk of infection if don't have these symptoms/high risk of getting infected if have them.

So if you get hiv on prep what happens wouldn't you still have to be on medication the rest of your life?
