I am always curious to look behind the tourist places in each country that I visit. So, I want to do the same here in Jakarta, Indonesia. I heard that the area around the old port in north Jakarta is interesting and I also heard that it might possible to do a boat ride there. So, I went to the port in Jakarta, called Sunda Kelapa, had a walk around, met tons of friendly people and ended up inside a water village. Definitely a place where you don't see tourists in Jakarta. Kiri = Left
Kanan = Right

Hi Ken, thank you very much for this authentic vlog. In 1991 i had been to Jakarta and went into the slums, which had only wooden huts and looked poorer as the area, where you have been. But it might be possible, that over 30 years they exchanged the wooden huts to the simole buildings, that you showed. It could be the same area, because i was also nbear the port as i remember. But 2 years later i had been to Calcutta (nowadays Kolkata), where even in the citycenter is was more difficult to cope with. Even 10 years later Calcutta was a lot better, and this is around 20 years ago.
