Have mine (a DCT) now for 3 weeks and I just love this bike. I live in Spain with great curvey roads across the mountains, but also fantastic off road trails. Use it as much as I can pure for the fun of it. Already had some great adventures with it. This bike is a boss!

Excellent review! I finally made up my mind and bought an Africa Twin. It’s at the dealer awaiting some accessories. I can’t wait to get it home!

11:44 - that could be an advantage in disguise: on the Honda Adventure Experience they told us explicitly not to look at the ground underneath us as that was a surefire way to end up on the ground. Rather, we were to look at the ground about 10-20ft ahead, and avoid micro-steering like the plague.

I bought this bike in March and have over 5000 kms on it both on and off road... It's a great road bike with lots of power and handling but I was pleasantly surprised as to how well it works offroad. It's too heavy to be a great single track bike but it's perfect for the logging roads I use it on...
Thanks for the great video...👍

i have 18, 000 miles on my 2017 africa twin, mostly off-road miles. I also have a motocross backround and was skeptical of riding an adventure bike off road, but after getting my AT set up for off-road it does way more than people give it credit for. For me living in southern California riding mostly desert the main appeal of this bike is being able to take off from my house on the bike and then go off-roading on the trails and riding home. Learning to ride an adventure bike off-road well is like re learning how to ride all together because its much different than a dirtbike

the main draw backs of the africa twin in my personal experience is that the AT is not very off-road ready off the showroom floor, the tires suck, no crash bars, no bark busters, the suspension is set up for someone under 200 pounds, and lastly the seat isn't very comfortable for long trips.
With all that said however i have abused my AT through some of the most brutal scenarios and in typical honda fashion its been extremely reliable.

If you are going to buy a honda africa twin though please consider buying a 2019 or newer if you can afford it. The older models have fork stiction issues and misfire issues that honda refuses to acknowledge.

Edit: Great video by the way, if your going to buy an Africa Twin the 2020 is the best yet. Huge improvements over the first generation

Just bought the CRF 1100 L Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT ES a few months ago, and I'm perfectly happy with it. Smooth road and trail riding (80% roads / 20% trails and soft to medium off road), very forgiving bike, especially the curve light feature on the Adventure Sports is marvellous. Brilliant commuter and every day bike. The electronic suspension works like a dream, with really noticable differences in settings. Although it's not everybodies cup of tea, but the CDT works like a charm and makes the ride so much more relaxed - its simply one thing less You need to care about. Also the Dual Clutch Gearbox offers at all 4 riding modes, containing 3 sport modes, so I dont miss any sportivity. Generally I mostly ride my bike in Urban mode, the difference in power output is quite chilly and convenient for me, as I prefer more cruising to going fast. Also the Honda luggage system fits my needs perfectly, as I chose the plastic sidebags (which are obviously enough for the few bigger tours I ride per year) and don't need any side panels added to the bike. What I would always suggest to buyers are the rally footpegs and the rubber tank pads, which give you a stronger stand and much better controllability, both on and off road. All in all - best overrall adventure bike I ever rode, happy to have it.

Really good review! I have the 2018 Crf1000L dct. It's a brilliant bike! I use mine for everything. I do take it for trail riding almost every weekend and it's alot of fun. The tyres make a massive difference like you rightly said! I have done about 32k Kms over 2 years now and there is nothing that I can knock the bike about.. be it service, fun or anything the bike has been fantastic! Keep them coming folks!

Brilliant review! I'm supposed to be picking up my adventure sports with electronic suspension tomorrow and would eventually love to take it on those kind of trails. Where was this shot? Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the way you described the settings for torque, power and engine braking! The blue indicates level of intervention! It is backwards as to how I would have made it but now my brain can understand it. Now if I can only remember it.

Cool review, mine is 2018 automatic, before used to have R1200GS but now much happier with Honda though missed the sound of BMW far from that this one is o more capable with less cost.

Proper tires, gravel mode, and skills: this bike will go anywhere. I’m enjoying mine.

I haven't ridden one of these but in the flesh it's an imposing and handsome machine which I am sure provides the rider with a good deal of presence and authority on the road, which has to be a good thing in this day and age. How did you get on with the electronics? Some other reviewers have said that they are too complicated and take away some of the joy of motorcycling. Thanks for yet another great review!

Thank you for the details. It looks like CRF250L because the reporter is a big man.

What a pleasant presentation of the review! Subscribed. Greets from Russia, the new Africas are being sold very well in here. I'm also considering getting the one. An excellent motorcycle if you live in Russia with our roads, distances and all the vast expanses of the nature.
Forgive my English, I might add. :)
