What most prospective purchasers really want to know is how the new bike feels and performs, especially benchmarked to the previous model. Is it faster? Does it handle better? Has rider feedback and comfort been improved? How is the fueling? Has quality control been improved? Previous models suffered from poor frame weld quality, an impossible to remove battery, difficult air cleaner access, premature front fork degradation on the standard model, and a lack of even one charging port. Me and my buddies own several: the AT has many strengths but some real issues too. The DCT model is easier to control for most guys on moderate terrain, but a skilled rider will want the standard shift bike as it is noticeably lighter, less prone to laydown damage, and offers more control in difficult off road situations. Every kilo matters in the dirt.

I had an XLV750 once with shaft drive (memory could be playing tricks) as well as a 2 BMW'S R80GS /R100GS /'82 TIGER TRAIL. Love these big stable bikes on dirt backroads when touring. Interested to hear what you think of the latest Triumph 900 by way of comparison with the altered firing order.

Why would you say that the Africa Twin Adv is more suited for tar when the ground clearance is higher?

Just curious when you talk about the DCT changing up a gear bit too soon on the dirt?.... What Sport mode # were you in? Maybe Sport 1?
I would think Sport 3 on the dirt certainly wouldn't be changing too early. That's going off the old AT model.

Love the look of the 2020 model, but it's now in the same price bracket as a GS1250 TE. DCT makes it more expensive than the GS with shifter\blipper. I was rather hoping this would be the GS killer based on price.

No mention of the switch gear electrical problems causing stalling .and no starts...or the weak fork tubes that flex and destroy fork seals leaking oil over the brake rotors !

13k for the 'base' model and all but 14k for the DCT! That's 4K more than a 700 Tenere...think I'll be heading toward the Yamaha dealer!
