In this episode, I want to discuss about Damaged Scratched or Rusted Leaking Forks, and How to Fix them on a Budget.

Instead of the JB weld can use Novol termo epoxy putty - Much cheaper but works as well.

Great video, thank you! Exchanging parts has unfortunately become the standard nowadays. But repairing on a budget is the real thing!

The Zinc Plating you did is very clever. We'll done. My legs aren't near as bad, just some scoring on the 1st few inches of travel, so after watching this video, I feel confident that I can salvage mine and get some riding in this Spring and Summer. Thank you.

I got some buffing discs that go on a drill along with some different grit "clay" and applied it to my forks. What a difference! A lot of time the older bikes either have old clear coat that has yellowed due to UV or some say it is the anodizing process. At either rate, I strip it off with acetone and 0000 steel wool and buff it with the pads and clay. Great video!

Excellent video thank you, it's given me the confidence to try myself on a Suzuki RV125 Van Van fork stanchion - I tried new seals first but they did not stop the leak. The sanding is now complete, rubbing compound next then to pound store for cheap batteries - most other shops only seem to stock Alkaline now.

Absolutely fantastic and so well presented! Thank you. 30mins ago I was considering buying a new chromium fork for my m/c as I just replaced the seals and whilst assembling the last one I inadvertently damaged the surface (near the oil seal) and created a dipple which I sanded the burs off so it wouldn't damage the seals but of course I still have the dipple which now I will try applying a spot of steel epoxy and sand down to a lovely smooth finish - okay, that's the idea :) Anyway, thanks again

Love the zinc plating idea. Was worth watching just for that alone. Cheers
