Everyone in Australia over the age of 30 grew up in a house with an egg slicer. A very thin wire slung back and fourth over a plastic, hinged thingy. Put the egg in the cup, close the thingy, egg slices.

That’s the theory at least. Kitchen banjo is more what it was used for in practice.

you can actually also just regular string, just add a little more pressure and its a nice cut

Sewing string works too, any string really. Just make sure it doesn't have anything you don't want to ingest and maybe tough enough to not snap

Theres a rigid metal wire tool if you want symmetrical halves. Would make sense in a restaurant setting
