In this video I take a trip to upstate New York to locate some of the last analog TV stations still on the air in the United States. Low power TV stations were exempt from the digital transition of 2009 and some still broadcast in analog. Stations found on my trip include WBPN-LP, WXXW-LP, and CIII-TV-2. The final date for these TV stations to transition to digital is July 13, 2021.

I can't say I "miss the fuzz" but I did enjoy the journey back in time. Thanks for making the trip and sharing it.

CIII-TV-2 (That Global station near Bancroft, Ont) has been seen by a DXer in Portugal via multi-hop Sporadic-E skip.

Today I learned there's a YouTube channel for literally everything.

Thanks for the video and your trip! The reason the audio is so low on channel 6 when listening with an FM radio is that the FM deviation is limited to 25KHz, rather than 75KHz that regular FM broadcasters do. So its like "one third the volume." Thanks again!

Well, I knew of channel 6 "Franken FM" stations in Chicago & LA. Mainly from a couple of certain Youtubers who restore vintage TVs.

As I recall, the analog signal had better range than its modern digital counterpart. I grew up in a small town that was roughly half way between Boston, MA. and Providence, RI. and our TV could easily pick up stations from both cities using nothing but its built in rabbit ears and UHF loop antenna with a relatively clear picture. Since it was a small town, we didn't have the "ghosting" issues that the bigger cities had because of nearby tall buildings.

Tyler, you may be too young to remember, but with a decent antenna, analog t.v. had a pretty good picture. Not at all like the fuzzy one you showed on the small set in your hotel room. I love your content. Keep up the good work!!

I miss analog days, i remember as a kid with my CRT and VCR i had a RF modulator for a ps2 and when i plugged it into the ant in i was able to pickup 3 tv channels and looked very good. some how the rf modulator worked as an antenna thought it was pretty cool. Analog tv was way more consistent and reliable then todays mess

One advantage of analog, you could still watch a weak signal.

Google "translator", I think.

The main channel was on "A", and had alternate channel on "translators".

My town still has two analog stations and one digital. In 2021. Both of our analog stations have content worth watching. Channel 32 shows popular shows from the 50's through 90's and channel 10 shows current stuff. I'm not from America but I hope to god that I get to keep my analog stations for a bit longer. They're really charming.

Ah, the sweet static buzz of my childhood. Whenever someone used a lawn mower nearby the tv went crazy 😂

The VHF channels could cover quite a large area, I remember my dad bashing the tv trying to tune it in. We then would say “the picture is ok, but it’s in Welsh”.

Thanks for getting footage of WVOA-LP. It's pretty close to my location, and it's always loud on my radios. If I ever try to hook up an antenna to my CRT, though, the entire screen is black, and I can only get that weird trippy video if I tune the channel up or down. Weird stuff!

I can't believe I used to watch things in analog. With it, I was in Japan watching original airing of Dragon Ball along with The Simpson due to close proximity American base. It was my main source of learning English back then.
