They can swim very well! We didn't clean out our pool this summer and ended up breeding a ton of these frogs in our 4ft deep pool. We are now moving them to our large flower bed to live in preparation to clean our pool out now that the tadpoles are grown into frogs. They are living there very happily and we make sure to water the area daily.

Time for an update!?!? Please do a bioactive enclosure build for green tree frogs! You've gained so much knowledge and experience since this video was filmed and I would love love love a detailed build setup. I bet a few others here would too! You are awesome! Keep up the great work!

I found a few frogs out in my backyard and i belive hes a tree frog. I cant keep him in my yard any longer because hes loud and i live in a city so my mom threw him into the garbage can. me being who I am I rescued him and now hes sitting in a jar. this was helpful and i'm definetly going to find somthing bigger for him to stay in.

interestingly I have had a Florida green tree frog living in the house for a decade or more (not the same one). the current one has been living in here for about 3 years. He or she is sitting right over there on my PC speaker as I write this, I just played a few rain tree singing videos for him..LMAO. He has no enclosure, he just moved in, like they have before. His territory ranges from the kitchen to the living room to the playroom ( A bed room full of my kid's old toys, also where the guitars and keyboard and a bunch of stacks of my film and music collection are. My point is, he lives here, keeps the bugs down, is nice and fat and well feed and co-exists with me in the house at his leisure. My living room window is often open when I am awake and he never leaves, so obviously he's happy in here as the ones who have lived here before. He does on occasion come and jump on my arm, sometimes startling me, but for the most part he just goes about his business and seems a pretty happy fella. So, at least for folks in Florida and perhaps southern states or anywhere I guess? You only have to open a window and one will move right in...LMAO He requires no care for the last 3 years, nor did the ones before him. aside from getting use to your presence and learning that you are no threat, he just "lives" with me and shares my space, and pays his own rent by keeping out the bugs and being so CUTE...lol He's not afraid of me in the least, and I will often do whatever I am doing with him just inches or a foot from me, washing dishes or watching you tube or doing whatever one does in the house, when I run across him he just looks at me and will even let me rub his head/back for a couple seconds....it's pretty neat to have one around, especially of their own free will.

I have wild american tree frogs living in my yard and they are so cute I've fallen in love. I really want one, but I wouldn't take one from my yard as a pet, can you find them captive bred? If so is there a good breeder I can get one from.

Do they need their food dusted with calcium/vitamin supplements and how often do they eat? Also, do you put their food in a dish or place it in the cage or tong feed them?

I don’t mean to be nit picky, but I’ve recently read a lot about these species and I have a couple of corrections/clarifications about what you said here. First, green tree frogs usually do not live in trees in the wild. According to research, they usually live in emergent vegetation (plants that stick up out of the water) about 3 feet or less above the surface. Secondly, from the studies I have read, the wild green tree frog diet relies heavily on spiders. 30-80% of their diet.

Nice video! I love green tree frogs.

I rescued 15 of these tree frogs! All were the same size (babies about thumbnail size) two weeks ago. Now 4 very large and 6 medium the rest still small. I've been feeding them nymph crickets and they were all in a standup 10 gal. Today I'm moving all big and medium into my 30" long x 13" high tank. The smalls will hopeful get more food and start to go now in the standup. How long can I keep these guys together? I'm working on rehoming most of them but plan on keeping a few once I know how many I can safely keep in each tank. TY for your video and any suggestions or comments given.

That range map is a little off, We have them up here in Indiana also. I live in a suburb of Indianapolis and I can take a five minute drive to a forested area and catch them all night long. I have also found them in Commercial Areas that have a body of water near by.

So I just purchased a banana tree and when I got it home I noticed one of these dudes living in the tree and he won’t leave. So I’m just going to toss some food near him and see if he will at least eat.
