Pet Frogs can make great pets for some people, but for others, frogs kinda suck as pets. Let's go over the good and bad about keeping everything from dart frogs to tree frogs.

The "don't handle them too much and leave them alone" is a big reason i think they're awesome as a pet.

I used to be obsessed with amphibians like newts but quickly shifted to reptiles for many of the reasons you listed! Still think they are beautiful and amazing, but certainly not for everyone!

Happy to be able to support an amazing keeper and content creator like yourself

I went in knowing the downsides, but I totally love my Dendrobates tinctorus frogs. They have a ton of personality for such a little package, and they are indeed like froggie skittles. Bonus: they're a very bold frog species, and they're right up at the front of the vivarium every day when I get home from work, just ready for their dinner.

I'm so happy that I found your channel. You work really hard and give us so much great information. I feel like I have learned more here than if I were to take a class on reptiles.

I tend to two grumpy toads that normally prefer to remain descended in sphagnum moss at all times. It's easier to look at the bottom of the glass tank to see where their bellies are as far as finding them goes. They love to binge on dusted crickets and then afterward they descend into a deep slumber. They like to relax, and they are not looking to make friends. They are only ever handled during tank cleanings.

My first frogs were a pair of ranitomeya imitator Tarapoto because I don’t see a point in getting a “beginner” pet when you’re fully capable of researching heavily until you’re well versed in the care and keeping of what you love.

i wanted to get a desert rain frog so badly but now i won’t after hearing that you shouldn’t handle them often (it makes sense i just never thought of it). it’s also surprising to me because i see so many videos of people handling and “playing” with their desert rain frogs.

Amphibians are freaking awesome 👌 They are all so different and some are amazingly coloured. 13 frogs / 5 different species and counting 🐸 Plus an outdoor natural pond full of frogs, toads, newts and a Snapping Turtle (Yes, I included a reptile 🤣🤣)

my daughter asked to take home tadpoles from a pool that was going to be dumped, she was sure they were grays tree frogs which she loves. we took a bunch and we embarked on a journey starting at knowing nothing to being "expert" frog keepers lol.. its been 4-5 months now, things are going well for the 5 we have left.. there was much to learn tho from caging, numbers separation, feeding tadpoles with no knowledge, had a humidity calamity, propagating food for such small frog mouths, judging when to transition to bigger foods. its been cool, im very invested in these little frogs future lmao

I did my research on whites tree frogs and fire bellies skin secretions. and I'm glad to see someone "practically" notice how resistance whites frogs skin is. they have some seriously impressive peptides that can break down some serious diseases like HIV. Probably one of the very fewest researchers that even know anything about this so its super cool to see people actually notice this in practice

I used to have a wonderful pacific tree frog I raised from a tadpole. Had it for years, then it finally died after I forgot to mist his enclosure. I was heartbroken. Had him for literally 3 years. Never had a tree frog since but now I have aquariums

Hi, Adam! Can you please do a video about the quietest frog species you own? And if males of that species are the noise producers or if females also produce some sound too? I live in an apartment with roommates so noise is a big consideration. Thank you for your educational videos :)

I am finding that I love my non-handlable pets because they are so easy to care for. I have enough pets that do need daily attention (macaws, goats, dog and guinea pig) that frogs and inverts are a relief.

I thought I was going to have to unfriend you 🤣🤣...kidding. You are 100% correct that they are not for everyone. Sometimes they are a little more work than most reptiles in the cleaning because of their permeable skin. I am always cautious and only handle with super clean and rinsed hands and that is usually only for the Dumpies. I'll wear gloves for the others. The Vietnamese Mossy frogs need a large water area so I have a full water bottom tank. They are always swimming around. But with that, more time for water changes. At the end of the day...frogs are my ❤️🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸

The only amphetamine I've had was a western toad, she was pretty sociable, she would stomp around and make little peeping noises at you and for an exotic pet she was fairly low maintenance. The only issues where that she smelled and the tank took a lot of cleaning, she wasn't too smart so feeding was a bit of a hassle you had to wiggle the food in front of her a lot before she noticed it. With all that being said she was a great pet and I would love to have another one someday.
