What Astronauts Revealed about Dragon Reusability Shocked Whole Industry
Somewhat lost in the noise of political battle on the threshold of the national election, SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission has made a giant leap for mankind.
It's not just about cutting-edge technologies that will shape the future of commercial spaceflight, but also the promise of a new record for reusability on the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.
That's what an astronaut revealed after the historic space flight.
Find out everything in today's Techmap episode.
But before we begin, let's subscribe to the channel to stay up-to-date with the latest space news.

SpaceX as we all know had an extraordinary three-quarters of 2024, characterized by record-breaking achievements. So far, the company has launched Falcon 9's ninetieth mission.
In addition, it has launched a Falcon Heavy rocket and two Starships, bringing the total number of launches to 93.
Meanwhile, last year's record is 98 launches including 91 launches of Falcon 9 rockets, five Falcon Heavy launches, and two Starship test flights.
This year, SpaceX aims at 148 launches but that goal is significantly constrained by the regulators, typically, the FAA.

However, despite the unreasonable fines and delays, SpaceX is still soaring ahead and making its enemies bow in admiration. It's exactly what SpaceX has done with its five-day Polaris Dawn mission. The mission was notable for its numerous history-making activities, including the first commercial spacewalk, the first test of SpaceX's brand new EVA suit, and climbing higher over Earth than any previous human spaceflight since the last Apollo astronauts left for the moon in 1972.
On September 15, the Crew Dragon Resilience carrying four astronauts returned to Earth by splashing down in the Gulf of Mexico.
Three days later, the capsule is back at Cape Canaveral on the recovery vessel Shannon. Under the view of the camera, Resilience looks like a marshmallow being toasted to perfection. According to Jared Isaacman, Polaris's commander, there will be no need for much touch-up on the vehicle ahead of the next go.

I worked for Boeing Aerospace back in the sixties. What a great job. If I was getting out of college today, I'd want to go to work for SpaceX.

Imagine what Space X could have done with the billions wasted by Boeing…

A flight they can be proud of, including the successful landing of the reusable first-stage booster. Nice.

It’s not by fluke that rocket lab moved its operations to New Zealand. It’s like state insurance commissions. They are supposed to protect consumers but what they really do is to protect insurance companies and their local monopolies.

Please try to use the word "competitors" instead of "enemies".

Good Morning. Great Update. Learned a lot today. I'm anxious to heat more about what's next for the Polaris Dawn future missions. I know You've got this. Nothing more to add today. Great Job, Great Update my Friend. Have a Great Day. It's Friday.

Building only 4 crew dragon capsules seems somewhat short sighted to me. A couple more would have added a lot more redundancy and resilience.

the real urgency of Dragon capsules is also the abject failure of any effective competitors. They are the sole credible US provider and launch platform... which is pretty much everything NASA was trying to avoid. Maybe Sierra Space can get their dream chaser going, maybe Blue Origin will get into the game finally. But for now, its all SpaceX

its a real shame mainstream media barely mentions space x accomplishments. its so obvious its all political at this point. These should be front page all over the world but i guess Elon is asking too many questions about the state of the world

Elon, have you asked Congress what size of (re)election 'contribution' checks they need to leave you alone?
Or are you one of those deplorable insurrectionists who is sick and tired of our corrupt government?

Raise from 5 flights to 15! Starliner can’t even complete 1 flight successfully.

Funny all of Space X enemies are American

I reckon that the Capsule designers.made a mistake in not engineering an airlock into the system, instead of opening the whole capsule to the vacuum of outer space. Maybe there were space modifications which were studied and rejected. The whole trip was a success, but in this viewer's eyes, a lot more dangerous than it could have been.

A lot of waffle in this post, perhaps they think they are talking to sixth graders, could have done it in 3 maybe 4 minutes.

Why do you think SpaceX has enemies? The language of warfare is both unnecessary and undignified. I for one am really tied of it. I have stopped watching most TV channels and will add your channel to my list of undesirable if this continues.

The language of this video reads like a cult member showering adulations onto their leader.
