NASA Astronaut Revealed This about BUMPED from Dragon to Rescue Starliner...
Hate to watch you leave without me.
Well, it's not the quote of any romantic movie, it's exactly the feeling of two grounded astronauts who were forced to give up their seats for the stranded Star liner crew.
This is obviously not unfathomable for astronauts who love space exploration more than anyone else.
However, it must be a bitter pill to swallow when we admit that things would have been different if Nasa had been more cautious in deciding whether the Boeing Star liner would take off that June.
So, how disappointed were those astronauts?
How did NASA and the two astronauts trapped on the ISS react to this incident?
Find out everything in today's Techmap episode.
But before we begin, let's subscribe to the channel to stay up-to-date with the latest space news.
NASA Astronaut Revealed This about BUMPED from Dragon to Rescue Starliner...
"there F that back at home we all have a lot of work to do but from here bir s looks like a perfect world".
It's hard to hold back these words when you take your first glimpse outside the spacecraft under a historical mission namely Polaris Dawn. This is not the first time Billionaire Jared Isaacman has gone into space but this is the first time he goes out of the capsule and directly sees our planet from space.
Not only amateur astronauts like Isaacman but also professional astronauts go through such intense emotions during their first time in space. Seeing our home against the blackness of space is a profound experience that leads to a greater appreciation for Earth and its apparent fragility, and a deep connection to humanity as a whole. Author and space philosopher Frank White calls this the Overview Effect.
NASA Astronaut Revealed This about BUMPED from Dragon to Rescue Starliner...
NASA astronaut Zena Cardman could have taken a chance to experience the Overview Effect this year if she had not been bumped from the Crew 9 mission.
Alongside Cardman, Stephanie Wilson was also intending to get a lift to the International Space Station on board a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on September 28. But thanks to Boeing's disastrous crewed test flight of its issues-laden Star liner spacecraft, the two women had to stay behind to make space for their stranded colleagues, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams. The duo have been stuck on board the ISS since June and had to wave their Star liner ride goodbye as it made its reentry without them in September.

Well, now they know how Ken Mattingly felt when Apollo XIII blasted off without him.

I’m curious. Those astronauts with controlled hair, do they really like others hair mops in their face?

It is too bad a once great company like Boeing is falling to $$$ above quality and safety. I feel bad for the four astronauts.

Can the two women astronauts sue Boeing for them being bumped from the mission to save the astronauts the recklessly stranded on the ISS? It is at least $100 billion dollar experience in my book. Money they could invest into Space X...

Whether it's launching to space or flying on earth, if it's Boeing I ain't goin'.

SpaceX doesn't seem to have any problems with a "fixed price contract". Gee....I wonder why?

You’d think their hair would get tangled on a few switches.

Those who were in charge at Boeing over the Starliner should be charged with reckless endangering of those they sent to the space Station.

My grand mother always say,
disheveled hair brings bad luck.
I thought it was superstitious, until I watch these video.

I don't understand why they didn't send the normal crew of 4 with an additional 2 seats. Make up the extra supplies needed with an extra cargo flight.

Why cant NASA do no more mission to rescue the Stare Liner crew. Bill Boeing for the mission. The ISS can use supplies to restock the ISS.

My POV, certification implies reliability and nominal performance. And free compensation for manufacturing errors.

But that’s just me.

I heard that the heart of the Starliner's problem would be in the design of its positioning "pods" (the 4 rectangular "warts" at the 4 corners of the disposable service module).
These "pods" contain ALL the thruster management system, the pipes, the valves, the tanks and also the thrusters (way too many elements for such a small space).
If certain elements had been installed in the module they could not have interfered negatively with each other as we have been able to witness.
As this is a major design flaw Boeing should go back to the drawing board to drastically modify the design of the ship and it could take 24 to 36 months to have a first functional prototype so a flight ship around

Astronauts are not allowed to speak freely.

Apparently giving up your first amendment is a requirement to be a NASA astronaut.

Is it because of the union effect vs the non union problem. Getting the job done rather than you are not qualified and you will have to wait for the right person to do that.

I would not worry about Boeing, because it is now in the hands of ... Elon Musk
Yes he bought Boeing, lock, stock and barrel
including the aircraft division
Starliner? Musk's decision.
But you can be sure Boeing will grow like a dragon on Dragon😊
