Such an amazing dog. Mines lasted 19 years. People still thought she was a puppy at 16

I walked my neighbors L Setter the other day, and I let her lead me because she could smell something in the snow. Roxy ended up leading me to a red fox in the forest.
I’m adopting one of her puppies. I’m so excited!

I was not aware of this breed until I was parked next to one for about an hour. While we waited in a parking lot at the doctors office, I was grappling with what type of dog I was looking at. I am fairly knowledgeable on dog breeds and can often pick apart a mix breed dog accurately. I knew I was looking at a purebred. She had beautiful markings, similar to some pointers, exhibited behaviors similar to a spaniel, and was a lean medium size. I knew she was not a pointer, because of her coat. The long ears with long hair, a full length tail with long hair, but not a thick coat, made me think of a setter. I began scouting the internet for sporting breeds, gun dogs, and dog shows. I just could not put my finger on it. Finally the owner came out and relieved me of my search by telling me she was a Llewelyn Setter. Absolutely beautiful, smart, attentive, and a quiet but dedicated observer, I admired her highly! Thank you for this very informative video. I learned more than I expected! Perhaps I would have put the part about how much attention and training they need at the beginning, somewhat, so that if someone is looking to consider owning this breed, they would know right away if they were not going to be capable of keeping one happy? However, it would be unfortunate for someone to exit this video prior to watching it in completion. Well done! Thank you!

Love my Archie, a nine month old Llewellin. He's a quick learner, athletic, super sweet and lives to please his people. Highly recommend this breed, especially if you're looking for a pheasant or grouse busting buddy.

My Llewellin is now 14 month and a great dog. I used to have Gordons which were also absolute great to have. The Llewellin however is more energetic and more social.
