The brain uses two inputs for staying in balance: 1) cilia (tiny hairs) in the inner ear, and 2) our stereo rangefinder vision. #1 is why you want to move the head as little as possible and why Rory could hit that shot blindfolded.

A trick for #2 to prevent eye and head moving to follow ball when hit is never stare and fixate on the ball itself but on blades of grass just past the ball :

on the line of sight of your dominant eye. This tends to be easier for right handed / left eye dominant golfers. If you have a fixed ‘sight picture’ on the ground that does not move — because the eyes don’t move off the non-ball reference point — you will see the club head enter the FOV on the right, sweep ball off the ground and exit the FOV left with the grass staying sharply focused.

The head doesn’t need to and should not stay perfectly still the eyes just need fixate on a balance benchmark with tunnel vision which keeps the eyes them from flitting around (saccades) which they do all the time without us realizing it.

There are real blind scratch golfers. They are amazing and have amazing caddy assistants.

I'd watch a full 18 holes of pro's playing blindfolded. It would be hilarious. Maybe do it for a charity for blind and partially sighted folk...
