Should I Buy A Condo? Pros And Cons Of Buying A Condo
Buying a condo can be great if you're looking to live near a downtown area and you're looking for the "downtown" lifestyle. You gain walkability to shops and restaurants, a low maintenance lifestyle, access to public transit, basically all the amenities and in a similar location to downtown apartments.

But there are also a lot of cons to condominiums that many buyers are not aware of. In this video I aim to give you an accurate view of exactly what are the risks of buying a condo to help you decide if you should buy a condo.

The biggest con aside from the uncertainty of the hoa fees and restrictions is that your condo may become non-warrantable for any number of reasons completely out of your control. I hope this video will help you answer the question "Should I buy a condo?". Is a condo a good investment?

I'm sorry but the lower maintenance, no lawncare and ease of lifestyle of condos is such a strong sell for me 😂. I'm not even considering a house when it's time for me to buy a home. But the cons and HOA fees are something I'll research before buying

They're nothing but glorified apartments anyway without the many advantages of having an apartment,

Well it depends, if you are a busy businessman i think condos are more convenient but if you have a big family house are more convenient. People think hoa are the biggest issue on condos, but when you own an house you always have to deal with everything by yourself, roofing, plumbing, electrical, yard, cabinet .own an house doesn't make you free of debt neither.hoa go up but all the maintenance cost a lot money also.if i was a rich single man, i would prefer buying a condo .all i have to say, people do what its best for you, dont listen the media, your decision matters the most.good luck to all of you.

Many neighborhoods (homes) have HOAs as well.
HOAs have unfortunately become very common beyond condos and townhouses.

Thank you I believe you have changed my mind about buying a condo. Also I’m a condominium who do you contact is the condo that is attached to you is smoking cigarettes or weed and the smell gets into your condo or they are playing loud music? I’m dealing with that in an apartment and that’s another reason why I’m reconsidering a condo.

There are lots of condominiums around me in California outside of downtown and many are in the suburbs. Homes are very expensive here and condominiums are half the price. Our HOA fees are a lot less than what you described in Texas. Ours are around $300-$500. Even adding an extra 100k to a condo it would still be cheaper than a house here. I know homes are much cheaper in Texas, so condos there must not be that different in price to a home.
Great video. I’ve only ever lived in a house. I know I don’t want apartment as there is no ownership or resale value. I thought about condominiums, but many people dislike them. Mainly because of HOA despite what they pay for. If I want a house I’ll probably have to move outside of California. I have a fully remote job, so I could move to a low cost of living state :)

is it basically just like…paying rent upfront…with another mini rent (HOA fee)?

Unfortunately for me, where I live, the best way for me to get paid what I am worth requires me living in a city. Plenty of $400, 000 condos in the city but the similarly priced homes in the suburbs are destroyed, many requiring an entire renovation. (NYC area)

I'll take the move-in ready scenario for now.

Very good video. I am 72 years old, retired and renting an apartment. Is it a good or bad idea for me to buy a condo owing to the fact that apartment rents are skyrocketing? Thanks.

After you pay HOA and tax on that condo
It will be like you paying rend well just save your cash and rent then

Helpful list but it's too biased, you rationalized reasons for cons too much like an investor and not like a buyer looking to buy a forever home. Appreciation and resell value don't matter to me, I'm not buying to get rich I'm buying for a place to live
