what constantly surprises me is the childish argument they make to defend Israels actions, that lawyer for example comparing critics of zionism to rapists. Or the troll Murray saying Gazans should raise their kids to love life. They're not winning any argument are they, just appealing to the already converted.

Back in March I had the very good fortune of meeting a delegation of Palestinian young people from various refugee camps in the West Bank. Their tour of the UK was organised by cadfa. They spoke about their hopes and aspirations, school, family and friends and the day to day difficulties of living under apartheid. A boy spoke of the hours long journey to get to school and back home everyday, all he has to do is cross the road that separates the two but he is not allowed on that road. So a journey that should take less than a minute takes over an hour because he has to avoid the road. One day he decided to risk it, as he could see his own home from the school yard, he quickly climbed a wall hopped onto the road only to be met by Israeli police. He was arrested, handcuffed, taken to an Israeli home, questioned for hours, then put in car driven to an unknown destination in the middle of the night and just left there. He was a child when this happened to him, at no point did he bad mouth or slag off the Israelis, none of them did. I saw in them what I saw in myself when I was their age (14-19). I just wanted to start making a future for myself and enjoy hanging out with my friends. I think of those kids every day.
