I wished I knew the resin adding trick during my 30 year career. I see it flows so much better. Great tip Chad.

Hello from east Tennessee I have always done it the same way. Everyone of the old timers say you have to block you have to block you have to and now I am gaining the business they once had. If someone try's to tell you that you must do something the way it's in the book, go to the garage and see what works for you. Personally I use a DA or flapper on my glass and unless I am on a long straight panel i dont block and still i get best of show. That said i do block some body fill and my HI BUILD prime. Thanks as a 33yearold struggling car builder for the insights...

You doing these videos has corresponded to me finishing two cars for myself. One is a 76 Stuingray I was slowly getting together for 20 years and the other is a survivor 1966 Ford Galaxie 4 door sedan I got a year and a half ago. They are now both mechanically sound and approaching the finish line. The Ford needs very little in the interior and the exterior may be the easiest body work I've ever done, because it needs next to nothing. I will spend more time getting the trim off than the paint prep will take.

My season is over. I have a wood stove in my garage, so body work in the winter ain't happening. But I tell you what, I've gotten more useful info from your videos since I started watching in October, that I can't wait to get out there and get started in the Spring.

The Vette is in primer and is ready for paint and I swear now that I have it nice, I will never do a fiberglass car again. Doing a Vette from stripping off 7 layers of paint, fixing body cracks and working it back up and adding the hood scoop I needed for the intake I put on and getting it all blended in, boy that will make you look forward to working with metal again. Wooo!

The body on the Vette was trial and error, mostly error and redoing it until I got it right. The interior is done and I'm just reassembling the trim and rockers with the fire burning out there and waiting til spring to paint.

Th Ford just had the motor completely re done and the body just needs 54 years of ugly block sanded off of it and some hail stone sized dents here and there taken out. But it is clean clean. 25, 000 original miles on it and 40, 000 now and I put those on. The car was mechanically sound enough to drive for the first year while I was getting it all squared away with brakes and suspension stuff that was just bad from age.

I have learned a ton from you so far and will continue watching. Thanks so much and keep up the Badass Work Chad!!! These are the best, most comprehensive, no nonsense videos I've seen on youtube. And thanks for sharing your secrets.

Adding resin makes it flow, and will fill the tiny voids along the welds.I use the long strand stuff a fair amount but its harder to work with. I work it like a cement float and work the resin to top. After it cures i knock it down with a grinder and a 24 or 36 grit to knock the stickys off, seems to give the filler more tooth to hang on to.
This is stuff nobody shows, getiing through the filler stages can be quite intimidating.

I appreciate the hard work!!

Nice touch adding resin to the glass! been using this trick for years as here in the uk the filler i get is harder to spread in colder weather etc i also use it in regular body filler from time to time as it also helps to minimize air pockets under the filler if the filler is too thick to spread into things like welds and dents, however be aware adding it to regular filler as it hardens much harder than regular filler making it harder to sand and if blending between filler that hasnt had resin added this will sand quicker than filler with added resin creating an edge 😎👍 great videos as ever im really enjoying the daily uploads thanks Chad and Jolene keep up the great work

I Used some short strand fiberglass filler to put a quick patch on a leaky motorcycle tank one day and it ended up being a permanent patch so not only is it waterproof it’s gasoline proof

I have started using the glass fiber reinforced bondo in recent years too, in fabrication of custom audio horn throats, reserving traditional bondo for only the thin final skim coat for the smoothest finish. The glass brings a huge increase in stability and strength. I also use it in model building.. where its strength and integrity are vastly better than traditional bondo in build up over brass base forms.

curious as to why no use of longboard sanding. We all have our methods but i never was satisfied w just an orbital sander. Still looking great over there!
