Mindy Kaling bashed over Scooby Doo

Personal view-Before discussing the controversy, I’m not really sold the idea a Scooby Doo show without Scooby Doo will sell.

For the actual controversy, I think this is a little offensive to the Hispanic community and also the Indian community.

They changed the character to be Hispanic and 24 months later, changed Velma to be Indian.

Which they aren’t for Daphne, Fred or Shaggy.

It’s basically going “Oh hey, let’s pass around the nerdy awkward chick, but the pretty shire people stay!”

I honestly do hope Mindy Kaling the best and as a life long Scooby Doo fan, I’m going to watch it, but I can totally see why this pisses a lot of people off.

I am Latino, I find the Hollywood tradition of wanting to modify established characters just to appeal to certain audiences very annoying. I never considered velma latin or indian. She is white because she always has been, anyway as I see this is going to end, this series will be cancelled, Since most don't enjoy watching shows where one of the highlights is someone's race.

The critics shouldn't just "deal with it, " if a black or POC character that has been established over many decades was suddenly turned white (specifically white because of racial events that have happened) there would be a huge uproar.
