For anyone wondering - car companies, specifically BMW and Tesla comes to mind, but other do it too. BMW offered subscription based heated steering wheel and massage seats. If you don't subscribe, the functions just don't work and you haul around excess equipment in the car. Teslas on the hand are equipped with self driving sensors from the factory and once you buy the self driving package it activates. Problem is when you sell the car as next owner will have self driving disabled as you activate it for person not the car. Other car companies have probably same devious services. One manufacturer will offer more warranty and less monthly payments if you subscribe to use the car, not buy it, and rent or subscribe for next model afterwards, maximizing manufacturers profit as previous car will sell on the secondary market or get subscribed to next person. You will own nothing and be happy.

I actually saw the worst one ever the other day: essentially it was a pizza company, where you order a pizza on that day, and then you start paying a subscription price of like £10 a month. that subscription basically says that for as long as you keep paying, they will keep your specific order at the price you paid on that day, no matter what. so you can keep paying for the next 10 years and the price of your order will never go up.... but even if you got like 4 pizzas a month, youd still be paying £2.50 extra per pizza to...keep the pizza cheaper...
