Looking for a New 2023 Surron Ultra Bee, Light Bee, or Storm Bee? This video breaks down all 3 of the newest Surron's to help you understand which electric dirt bike is best for you.

The Lightbee X is Surron’s flagship bike. The first model was introduced in 2017 and it was 2019 when the bike hit the US market. There have been some updates to the battery, motor and specific hard parts, but overall, the Lightbee is largely unchanged since its introduction. It comes in with a super low seat height of 32.6 inches, weighs 123 pounds and has a current MSRP of $4,500. I think it’s the best bike to teach new riders, male or female, young or old, and the best all around bike that almost everyone can have fun on.

The Ultra Bee is bigger, faster and more off-road oriented than the Lightbee. It has a seat height of 35.8 inches, weighs 187 pounds and has a current MSRP of $6,500. A point that I really want to drive home with the Surron Ultra Bee is that it is a really easy, laid back bike to ride, especially when you’re in the low power modes. A lot of the DNA of the Lightbee carries over into this Surron Ultra Bee, making it a super playful, agile bike, but off road riders that are wanting more out of their Lightbee or those that are used to riding traditional dirt bikes will really appreciate the upgrades on this model. The bigger battery provides more capacity, its full size seat and more natural ergonomics, paired with proper dirt bike components, makes this bike feel like a more competitive option.

The Storm Bee is the biggest bike in the lineup, weighing 280 pounds, with a seat height of 37 inches and an MSRP of $8,500. You would think that the performance would be a step up on each of these models but I would debate that theory once we get to the Surron Storm Bee. Despite the fact that the Storm has the most power, full size moto suspension and a 21 inch front and 18 inch rear wheel combo, it also has the most weight, by a long shot. All of that makes for a strong machine but I still think the Ultra Bee is the more sporty option.

I tried the LBX about 1.5 years ago. It was too small for me and I wasn't keen on the mods needed to fit me. I'm 187cm (6' 1.5") and 85kg (187 lbs) with a long torso. A while later, a used pre-release Storm Bee became available. I rode it, loved it and bought it. It's an awesome bike for my size and style. I don't do motocross tracks but we have endless open country to explore in Mongolia. So it works well for that. However, it's limited by its height and weight to less technical trails.

So a few weeks ago, I added the Ultra Bee which inspires more confidence in me to take on steep, technical trails. Whereas, I'd tip over on the Storm Bee, I can catch the Ultra Bee before I drop it. It's so light for me and lower which really helps on steep hills.

I love them both and I'm glad I can afford both. They are also cheaper to buy in Mongolia by about $1200 or so because we are next door to China. I paid $5200 OTD for the Ultra Bee (new) and $7200 for the Storm Bee (used).

Ultrabee is for sure my next bike, next size up and much more bang for the buck over the lightbee for off-roading purposes at least. Brakes and suspension not being MTB based is a huge factor I feel needs to be considered. Being over 100lbs lighter then stormbee is a huge for keeping bike light and nimble.

Really loving this comparison video. Excellent job as always. I think a lot of people have been waiting for this one.

I’ve had a Light Bee for 4 years. I recently upgraded to a 72 Volt/BAC 4000. I’m 80 and I like the light weight. I live in a small town in Idaho(Twin Falls)and wish there was a local shop that had some expertise on electric propulsion systems. Idaho just got a Zero dealer (Idaho Falls). I’ve had 3 Sondors Ebikes and bought a Metacycle. Not happy with it! The SurRon is more fun. If the UltraBee had been available I probably would’ve gotten it. Thanks for the info/video.

That's why I keep going back to the 'X'...it looks small enough to not stand out if I want to hooligan. Just wish you could mod them at build, so not have to pay so much extra and then have the stock parts laying around. BTW: Don't forget, we can go to Fountain Creek, Pueblo, Penrose Commons, Seep Springs, Texas Creek...even Dragon Mans!

Thanks for these reviews, it really helps to see side-by-side differences between them. Really interested to see what mods would you do on a Storm Bee!
I bought the Storm Bee just 2 days ago and also tested the Ultra Bee at the same time. For me Storm feels like a better bike - much more powerful, feels more solid, and that gearbox sounds is just amazing! Ultra Bee felt a bit underpowered, it immediately needs a new set of wheels and probably a suspension tune. I am very interested in what kind of mods we will see for both bikes.

StormBee looks like an E-Husqvarna. I really want one, but you couldn’t take it to the dunes, or mud without the batteries being depleted quickly. Seems like E-bikes still have a long ways to go before they truly can compete with a petrol burning bike.

Still they look incredibly fun, and I would love a Surron for exploring smaller trails or adventuring around locally.

At 6ft. The light Bee would be like a mountain bike with a non adjustable seat. The ultra seems like it will be a good fit. I have a DRZ, so don't really want something that big. Thanks for the lineup!

Thanks for the review. I'm 6'4" & 230 lbs. I think I'm stuck with the Storm Bee as my model just due to size issues haha. I would mostly be using it for mountain trail riding in Utah as well. Agree or disagree?

I believe that three models cater all body types, one for each. I prefer the Ultra.

I’m confused…. What about the surron x ? I guess I don’t know all the models ….. Are these older models / model names ? Is surron X newer than the three you profiled ? I’m looking to buy one …. have no clue which one to go with …..

Maybe the main question should be:
How many battery’s do you need for a day of fun?
How many ride hr before the battery drop 80% condition, and then 60% condition.
How much is a battery and how easy are they to get your hands on?

What kind of suspension would you recommend putting on the light bee x in order to hit the track/jumps?

I'm interested in doing ohlins downhill forks and rear shock. Have also seen people do fox 40s, Manitou dorado, marzocchi bomber, fast ace, ext Ferro, or even 85cc mx front ends. Which would you recommend for the best weight and performance??

Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it. I think I really just want to get a light bee. If for no other reason than just for the ability to use just about any hitch-mounted bike carrier to pop it on the back of my 4runner and take it out to the desert. Now if I had a trailer I would probably be all about the new Ultra Bee
