Potential new cockpit for Typhoon fighter jets designed to make pilot's job easier

The Typhoon is used by the British military for both domestic security and overseas deployments.

At this year's Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), the cockpit display screen BAE Systems is self-funding was on show, with the defence firm hoping to install it into Typhoons to extend the relevance of the platform as it ages.

Realistically the UK needs to purchase more Typhoons, upgrading the existing Tranche 3's to Tranche 4/5 as well buying new airframes. This combined with F-35A's would be sufficient to take us into the next few decades.

Will it actually be bought? Probably by Germany and Italy but we will do all the development and then when it actually comes to roll it out, we won’t be able to afford it

Thank god it actually sounds like their is some common sense available in uk defense. EFA is a more capable airframe than the F35 it makes far more sense to upgrade its avionics and EW systems. It's not perfect but im sure cheaper than developing another airframe over 20 years when we need the capability now.
