I grew up in a Christian household and I've always had so many questions about Islam because of how closely and yet distantly the three (including Judaism) are connected. I found this video so informative and so helpful and I'm eager to learn more.

Your channel, as well as those of “Let’s Talk Religion, ” “Esoterica, ” and “Religion for Breakfast” do excellent work. I’m especially glad that I found yours. I’m a Christian myself (I often call myself a “heretical Protestant” somewhat jokingly), but I have a deep fascination with and love for the world’s many faiths and their histories. (And I especially love the mystical dimensions of religion.) Islam is a faith with which I’ve always felt an especially deep kinship, having studied it for almost twenty-two years. It’s excellent to see more Muslims engaging with Islamic history and it’s major figures, ideas, and movements. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber.

SA: "Digging up Mecca and Medina for archeology? How dare you, don't you have any respect?!"
Also SA: "Skyscraper 100 feet away from Kaaba? Well, that sounds like a great idea!"

I'm so glad I found your channel! While I personally am atheist, I find the study of history and religion, psychology and sociology and how all of it is intertwined absolutely fascinating. Please keep up your amazing work ❤️

I like the disclaimer that you did at the beginning. No one is going to be 100% unbiased in any research. At least we can know where you are coming from and how you set out to approach the topic. I think you did a very good job.

The whole point was to view it from modern historical standards and from unbiased account, not considering Muslim authors. Comments mentioning Hadith as sources loose the point of the video. As a Muslim we all believe that the Hadith and the knowledge of it has immense merit and are true. But the objective approach demands the researcher to be outside the argument, reporting the findings on what there is, not on what he/she thinks.

May Allah guide us all and give us toufeeq, and provide us with the understanding to follow the teaching of Prophet Muhammad SAWW in the best way possible. Ameen.

Thank you for this, I really appreciate having a place to learn about the history of Muhammad. As a Westerner, in school, we are not given any of this information, in our educational system. I really believe that it is up to us to learn about each other's cultures so we can learn to respect each other and get along better, as Earthlings.💜🙏🏻☮️

A clear blunder at 6.40
The earliest work of hadith was the muwatta of Imam Malik (93AH- 179 AH)

I'm sorry you have to receive hate in the comment section by being called Munafik, Murtad, etc. Keep up your good analytical work.

Hi! I am also Muslim and am a graduate student of history specialing in religious and ritual studies. Similar to you, I also had to grapple questions about my faith when I was studying and writing on the Islamicate world and reconciling it with history. Your preface made me at ease knowing that I am doing my best staying in objectivity but also staying in my faith. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work!

I think your videos are great. I just hope you take pride in Islam’s history. I’m not a Muslim but Islam has done so much for the world. The history of Islam is so interesting! Cheers from America!

'Prophets do not come with a sword'? At the very least Joshua, David and Solomon did.

Glad to see you’re back! And tackling a subject I’ve often wondered about (admittedly as a non-Muslim) as well! I know Tom Holland discusses the historicity of Muhammad, but I especially appreciate someone approaching the topic with an actual background in Islam. Keep up the great work as always, friend!

Even as a Christian, I have utmost respect for Muhammad and those who follow his teachings. Much love to you, thank you for making such an informative video!

big respect for researching this objectively. many times it can be frustrating how little space islam leaves for non-religious interpretation

Although I am not a Muslim, I do believe that Muhammad existed. I would be rather shocked if he did not exist. As for the accounts of what all happened in his life, it would be interesting to know what is and is not true about his actual life.
