3:06 - Reminds me of the time me and my friend made a soapbox racer from pallets and bike wheels.
We had regular bike brakes on the front, and we also decided to weld a cog on the axle with a locking pin - to make a shifter (of course, only P or N could be selected. It was a gravity powered cart)
We decided that to try and pull a hand brake turn, it would be a cool idea to slam it in park at full speed.
Instead of the rear wheels locking, we just slowed down and then moved back and forward a few times. Wondering what on earth happened we looked underneath...
Sure enough, the park gear locked the axle... But the axle couldn't take it. It had bent and buckled into a complete knot. It looked like cooked sphagetti.
Me and my friend were laughing so hard, we almost passed out.

I always thought AWD to be overkill if you live in a region where it only snows a few days out of the year. That's so much extra weight to be hauling around with added resistance.

I just bought a z71 tahoe and it put it in 4wd sometimes when it floods here in miami but when I turn it does this is this because it does not have a third differential or because its always locked in 4wd high

oh now my selectable AWC SUV start with a FWD front wheel drive boy! not all part-time start on a RWD basis

Also mitsubishi likes to be complicated to it's a part time, 4WD "ECO" with split torque 100/0 0/100 at the front to both wheels that send power only when it detects front needs help.
AWC auto = AWD feel starts with 80/20 split and can send up to front 60/40 rear (computer takes over)
AWC LOCK = gives you a feel of a 4x4 lock with still letting limited slip so no binding or wind up occurs.
Starts 60 front / 40 rear, can go up to 0 front / 100 rear
( S-AWC can do the extra mile and go 100/0 on any wheel not just the front OR rear depending on the car model)

So 8L/100km winter or summer with CVT also procuring the right torque / speed ratio at all times

If you were to drive on the open road with the diff locked, would the windup break the axle diff or centre diff first?
