Hey first state if ever you’re looking to catch big reds, snook or shark I heavily recommend cut mullet. It works extremely well in my experience

If you still go trout fishing I do recommend blue fox spinners, corn, and garlic power bait, and rosters tails. it will well in ponds and rivers.

2nd rig over the first. Problem with the 1st rig is if there it too much float and a sliding sinker it'll just float to the surface.

Kit didn't look too bad. It'll catch.

I see you have mono line on that reel. Reminds me of my Dads old surf fishing rod n reel! I have not used mono in years I love my braid but I also remember when all we used was mono!
