I love mixing slow ;) Better than mixing fast with out a real plan

Quick note on EQing: When you are adjusting a frequency you are not "adding" high end or low end. You are simply boosting or cutting that frequency. A EQ cannot add frequencies to your sound, it can only modify it.

Mixing > EQ / if your mix lacks Bass, don’t touch the EQ. Just fix your bass

What do you think about the new Avicii album and the tracks you've heard?

Edit: lol the timing of my comment matches perfectly with your SOS remix announcement. Can’t wait for that to drop!

Best way to explain automation is that it is the change of a sound over time. Change/time

every day I find myself much more fascinated by the world of electronic music, music production and especially learn more and more every day. Thank you for teaching in this amazing, wonderful and dedicated way. thank you really, you do not know how many of your tips I've spent months or years looking for.

The coolest thing about listening to techno since the late 90s has been observing how it has evolved, and who has evolved with it, while maintaining their integrity.

I don’t think anybody is arguing you don’t have any skills, however making a parallel that slower mixing style djs like Carl Craig, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Jeff mills, and Kevin Saunderson haven’t “properly developed their mixing skills” is absolutely ludicrous. Even that Jeff mills clip you showed displays longer, slower transitions.

The absolute best sets I’ve ever heard have had less. The tracks had room to breathe, and the energy was nudged in a particular direction, not forced.

Dry/Wet.. You explained that very well, thank you! Like my ears knew what they did in a sense but on the other hand getting a definition helped me grasp it better!

Luke, this was awesome and I agree some of the terminology used can be confusing to producers who are just starting off. They can even be confusing to a seasoned producer some time. I think would we need is a producer channel for dummies. And I say this in a very respectful way because I want to help others. I think I will take on this venture and hopefully can help new producers by keeping it basic and less complicated. A lot of these tutorials run through their explanation rather quickly and producers don’t get the answers they need. So I think by making a video, providing a forum and answering those questions in a follow up tutorial can help. You’ve inspired me to take this idea and run with it! Also, can’t wait for the show tonight at The Academy!

I live for synthesizers and designing patches, but let me tell you, don't let that hinder you from picking up presets. I find myself inspired by the sounds I dig up, and it honestly helps me write. If you're really set on not using them afterwards, just change the patch!
