How to tell the difference between a oil cooler failure and a blown head gasket.

The vehicle in the video is a 2007 audi a4 3.2 fsi Quattro.

engine code (BKH)

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE:
1. Engine will NOT turn over,
this is because the coolent is on the bottom side of the engine not the top side it won't allow the engine to compress because there isn't no room for it to compress.

2. you have lights but no action,
this is very similar to symtom number 1, you have lights, your radio works, your car locks and unlocks ect..

3. coolent and oil mixed, when a coolent part fails depending on where it fails it can cause damage to the engine so have a crankshaft turning tool with you to make sure it's not internal engine damage.

4. undiscovered coolent leak, you don't see no coolant anywhere and yes is is nerve racking but fear not If you don't see no coolent leaking that means it's in your oil and your oil cooler needs replaced.

make sure you flush your engine with engine flush to remove all of the coolent and oil left.

Hi
Thank you for creating content to help.
in my case, i sent my car (dodge se 2012) because i've had highly viscous oil in coolant system.
not sure it is the head gasket or the oil cooler because car wasnt overheating in the beginning.

today mechanic said we will start with replacing the oil cooker, flushing the system, and coolant refill and see how it works.

if still oil is there, he will proceed with head gasket replacement.

for me, what he is trying to do is more of try and error thing, he should first pressure test the cooler, isnt it?

in my case, the oil is inside the cooler reservoir. I have flushed the radiator 3x, but still there is engine oil in the water cooler. But, no water mix with oil engine. The oil engine is clean. It is a recent bought car, and the last owner said he changed the engine block gasket. But I think can be other thing happen . Oil keep going into the water... what I have to do? The car has running 1000 miles with no problem, engine with normal temp, oil pressure ok, water temp ok too

my issue is coolant draining rapidly at times from the overflo tank. theres no sign of coolant on the ground but i've noticed that coolant is present in the oil. the cars exhaust has a strong smell of like coolant and unburned gas. i did have the head gaskets replaced and the problem still exists. the oil fill cap has a milky film and dipstick is very watery and at a much higher level. after seeing this video im convinced its the oil cooler gasket
