I found an article about Nerd vs Geek.

"Geek – An enthusiast of a particular topic or field. Geeks are collection oriented, gathering facts and mementos related to their subject of interest. They are obsessed with the newest, coolest, trendiest things that their subject has to offer.

Nerd – A studious intellectual, although again of a particular topic or field. Nerds are “achievement” oriented, and focus their efforts on acquiring knowledge and skill over trivia and memorabilia."

I personally agree with these descriptions. I personally think I am a nerd.

I've always stereotyped nerds to lean towards book stuff and geeks towards technology/mathematical science things.

This is the way I view their differences:
A geek is a person who knows alot (too much) about a very specific topic. This is why there are types of geeks.
A nerd is a very smart person who is socially awkward.

These may overlap to create the ultimate gerd or neek. (PS im not actually sure if this is true)

I like Zelda, The Hobbit, Star Wars, Gaming, Computers, Zombies, Apps, Ipods, I'm smart, I LOVE Doctor Who. Love. I like Books, Science, Education, and yes, I do realize that these shouldn't all be capitals for the start of all of those words. And:

I play the Cello, I like Literature and Mathematics, Films, Toys, Comics.

I'M A GEEK/NERD! I'm calling it a Gerd. you call it what you want.
