India is planning to cut some imports from Turkey and widen curbs on palm oil from Malaysia to oil, gas and other products, news agency reuters reported on Wednesday. India is the world’s biggest buyer of edible oils, and has already effectively stopped importing palm oil from Malaysia by asking importers to look elsewhere. According to the report, New Delhi is now planning to restrict buying of petroleum, aluminium ingots, liquefied natural gas, computer parts and microprocessors from Malaysia. The same report goes on to add the government is also planning to cut imports of oil and steel products from Turkey. Meanwhile, another Reuters report said Malaysia will use diplomatic channels to try and resolve concerns over the palm oil exports. Malaysia's minister of primary industries told an industry conference that "This year, Malaysia foresees more challenges in some of its major markets”. On this edition of the big picture we will analyse India’s Relations with Turkey and Malaysia.

We are people of republic of India
We adopted a constitution, a government system government has right of regulation .
Regulation is right or wrong ?
This is matter of our honourable supreme court .
So nobody has right to intervention in our internal matter like 370, CAA.
This affect our sovereignty, integrity .
So this is one of best decision of GOI .

*149. India’s Trade diplomacy*
Towards Malaysia:
• Malaysia’s criticism on India’s internal issues of Article 370 or CAA in international platforms is uncalled for. They are trying to gain political mileage domestically & also internationally among Islamic countries.
• Palm oil in Malaysia contributes to 2.5% of its GDP, 4.5% exports & India is one of the largest buyer.
• India’s import of refined palm oil from Malaysia had been amended from “free” to “restricted”. India has the capacity to refine & can import raw palm oil from Indonesia.
• New Delhi is now planning to restrict buying of petroleum, aluminum ingots, liquefied natural gas, computer parts and microprocessors from Malaysia
• India’s stance of dealing with countries is changing & significant & this sends out a clear message.

Towards Turkey
• Although Turkey shares good relations with Pakistan, militarily as well still India was wishing for a functional & economic engagement with Turkey.
• However, Turkey’s move will affect the relations badly. Although there is not much trade between countries but new investments will be put on hold.
• Turkey & Malaysia are trying to define a place for themselves in Muslim world & in doing so they are affecting India’s interests.

Towards West Asia:
• India have more friends now in this region – Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Oman & engagement in trade & investment is continuously increasing.

RCEP
• RCEP calls for free trade agreements between 16 countries (ASEAN + 6)
• For India, it’s essentially an India – China issue where India has a huge trade deficit. China has not been sensitive to it & have no actions on ground to deal with this issue.

As India grows more & more, India will use it’s economic & commercial interest to shape the geopolitical relations.

I'm Malaysian and I'll say that Pramit Chaudurai has got it right. Mahathir is playing the race and religion card to get indegenious support.

As a Malaysian, i hope our government will stop depending on other country to drive the economy. Just buy from Indonesia. I would like to see palm plantation in Malaysia will be converted to jungle again.

Great discussion 👏👏
But why haven't we done something like that with China which has brought this issue twice in UNSC.. It is also intervening in our internal matters.. In this context as Gurjit Singh ji said, money speaks louder.

Why can't we Manufacture the Micro processor in India. What are our people doing in IIT/IISC/IITB.
Why should they poke in our internal affairs.
Why can't we restrict to import of raw oil and refining at our processing at our industry.
