From 1974 to1975, the Doodler became the most prolific serial killers of gay men in San Francisco. He wandered into gay bars, searching for victims. He would sketch a flattering picture of his target on a cocktail napkin before luring them to a more private location where he would brutally stab them to death.

Makes you wonder, if the killer is still alive, are they watching these podcasts on them? Are they possibly even commenting?

If it wasn’t known that Josh’s voice is soothing I would think I am a psychopath because I can feel my blood pressure lowering as he’s literally saying “the doodler killer may still be killing”

Perfect timing. I really look forward to these Podcasts every Friday. I just got home from the Dispensary - got 30% THC Powdered Donuts - and the pharmacy and settling into this podcast helps complete my day and kick off the weekend. You guys are tremendous!

in polish city łódź in the 80s, there was a dude who killed around 10 gay men. being gay is still heavily frowned upon even now, so imagine how little care polish police gave that killer. that case is also unsolved, however a lot of people believe the killer might have died from aids as the killing spree stopped at one point. but who knows really. it's sick how many killers target vunerable people

I think it's alot less that the killer is good at what they did and more the police just didn't care and didn't do thorough jobs on the scenes.

This is just so sad and frustrating that this happened to these men. I had never heard of this killer. So wrong how this case wasn’t handled with the same seriousness as others. I really hope one day the killer is found. Thanks for bringing awareness to this!

How can the police catch someone in the stolen car of a murdered man and not think he had anything to do with it!

It’s sad that they had to worry about being ostracized for being gay instead of potentially getting justice

Thank you for covering an important case that is so under the radar. I also appreciate your careful handling of the subject matter. It was so sweet hearing you describe Jae and what they might prefer if they lived today. You really illustrated his humanity well.

It’s absolutely amazing how times have changed in such a short time. It’s unbelievable that a persons sexual orientation could be used as an excuse to murder them & the police not do anything about it 40+ years ago. And now, if this is to happen, it’s classified as a hate crime. I can’t wait to see what happens (the steps we take forward) in the next 20 years!

My dad, he’s my hero, he’s old school, work hard, earn what you want, take care of your family first before anything else. He’s literally the greatest man I know. Sadly, bc the times he grew up in, I used to get so frustrated with him bc he didn’t think a man belonged with another man. Over time he slowly changed his opinion on that (before that thought we would have arguments & was the only time I would be upset with him). Slowly he would change his mind, go from saying man & man don’t belong together to saying “What two people do in their home is their business, not ours” to now “It doesn’t make one bit of a difference if a man loves another man, they have that right & it’s not hurting anyone else. Let them live and be happy, it’s who they are”. I honestly never thought he would have changed his mind & be so open minded to it but it makes me so happy that he has! If he can (and like I said when I was younger he was completely anti gay) change his opinion and thoughts, so many others can too. I just honestly think it’s the time he grew up in & how kids where raises to think in the 60’s & 70’s that made them think like that bc my dad is literally the greatest man I know. He is my hero, he is my everything but he did have a narrow way of looking at things & now his views have completely changed for the better.

Thank you for covering this so respectfully and thoroughly, and putting it into the context of LGBT history. No one else would have covered this like you, love you and kendall both so much and congrats on the baby

I have never heard of this case before. I do hope the killer is caught. Maybe someone will come forward now that the stigma is not as life altering. I do hope they're lives have improved to the point where it wouldn't stop them now. And whoever they are I hope they're still here to tell the story. These victims deserve justice.
