On May 13th, the Russian Air Force experienced a notable setback, possibly marking one of its most devastating days in over a year during the war. Although the information is currently scarce and subject to potential revisions, it seems that Russia suffered the loss of two Mi-8 Hip helicopters, a Su-34 Fullback strike fighter, and a Su-35 Flanker-E, with no survivors.

The Russian Air Force would find these losses particularly concerning due to the fact that they occurred within their own country, in regions located relatively close to the Ukrainian border.

All four aircraft crashed in Bryansk Oblast, which is deep within Russian territory and located across from Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast in the northeast.

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes how Russia lost 4 aerial assets in one day?

With the US in the corner of Ukraine Russia doesn't stand a chance.

This checks out, especially with today's news they're sending over F16s

I hope that Ukraine gets the ADM-160C in the near future.

The existence of MALD explains why Russian numbers are so over inflated

The MALD gets the attention of the Russian air defence systems and they mis the stealthy Storm Shadow as it has the RCS of a small bird.

thank you so much for removing the repetitive 1+ min ad after the intro

Russia: "Its a bird, its a plane, its superman."

Russian air defenses: "Fck, I don't know what it is."

Mald: "These fools just shot 31 missiles at me and I don't even have a warhead."😅

This system should have a good self destruct system, not to give the technology to the adversary for research

Would be sweet if Ukraine retrofitted a 50kg warhead into some of these. Dual purpose.

I see this as another potential problem for beyond visual range missiles. Im assuming these kinds of drones can just as efficiently deceive fighters as they can sam sights. Many countries are developing air to air missles that can fire over 100 miles. Aim-260, PL-15, Meteor, R-37M.

If you have enough of these drones and they're cheap and effective enough, do these long range missles become useless? Is the drone a lot cheaper then the missle used to take it out? An AGM in 2015 costs $322, 000. An Aim-120d costs over 1 million dollars in 2019, and this is an older design then the other missles I mentioned and therefore should be cheaper. A meteor at the same time costs over two million dollars. All info from Wikipedia, not perfect but the quckest and most recent figures I could find.

So do you waist a missle thats three to six times as expensive and possibly just shoot a drone? Do you buy many times more missles to insure that even if they have a wall of drones you still get the incoming fighters? Theres still some potential of blue on blue to boot without visual confirmation. But if these drones make you wait can you prevent enough fighters and or bombers from getting through? Or does the expense of it all take money from other parts of the military budget?

And this isn't going to be just a problem for our enemies. China and Russia may or may not have these yet? But even if they dont they will.

There MAY be ways to effectively identify which are drones and which are a real threat. Hopefully we and our allies are working on that as well

Hm...925km you say...i think ukrainian engineers will find a way to squeeze 50kg of tnt in it somehow. Then off to Moscow

Here’s a list of all the variants of the ADM-160 MALD.

Nice, but shouldn't they have a self destruct device set up to blow up classified parts for when they reach the end of their range and start to fall to earth or are hit by enemy missiles? These seem to be a quick way to give our enemies prototypes of our missiles without any additional costs to them. And how soon till they have them copied and start using them against us?
