I've been playing this game for over 100 hours, and I never noticed the "cornered" effect. That's going to come in handy. Thanks!

Don't underestimate Aphrodite's boons, they're invaluable early. The weaken effect is ideal for bossfights and the damage modifiers she grants are ridiculous.

Here's my beginner tip for the bow:
Don't be afraid to get up close to enemies and use the spread shot as an impromptu shotgun for massive damage.
Enemies don't damage Zagreus unless they're actively attacking him, meaning you can simply walk into enemies with no loss of health.

Tip use the codex to see what boons higher tier boons require

If you are having trouble beating Hades try the Shield. The shield with the Bull Rush Hammer Upgrades is the easiest build for me to win with. Bull rush constantly and you can not be damaged from the front. It will block Hades Fire Beam attack which makes that battle much easier.

I wish I'd known that Ambrosia was useless until youve ranked up a friendship to almost max. I could've used it to get more early blood at the trader.

Great guide. Disagree fully with your take on ruthless. In forced overtime the combo's of your enemies and especially bosses can have such range and repositioning speed that greater relfex is still king. Having said that Ruthless has its place as a niche in some strategies and the speedrunning community is divided on the extra dmg vs the speed of the extra dash.

Another tip: You are ALWAYS guaranteed 2 Daedalus hammers; one in Tartarus/Asphodel, one in Elysium/Styx. If you skip it, it will appear again in the next biome or in Charon's shop. You are also guaranteed 4 different god boons, 5 if including hermes.

Keepsakes should be your best friend!

It’s sometimes easy to overlook the trinkets we get from gods and other allies but in actuality those keepsakes are basically a method for summoning a god you want to take advantage of. If you want more damage, use Thanatos’s Keepsake, if you want protection, call for Athena or use Eurydice’s acorn.

When you can switch between levels of Hades, you can switch up your Keepsakes allowing you to pretty much call upon what gods you want to interact with and create your perfect build. Wasn’t until I started strategizing my Keepsakes that I beat Hades

My beginner tip would be to take the purple glowing weapon offered at each run as it makes sure you are familiar with every weapon and the boons that work with them... and also to get extra darkness, which can also simultaneously heal you when you obtain it throughout the escape.

My biggest one is remap controls. Remap dash to a shoulder button, and move interact to a face. Having dash and attack on the face of the controller limits comboing.

Less of a game tip and more of a mental one, after every run (especially ones you don't complete while you're still trying to escape the first time) tell yourself "good run" and identify something you did well at and something you could do better on next time. It can be really demoralizing to make it someplace farther than you've been before only to lose, so it's a good habit to recognize the importance of each incompleted run towards improving

I’ve played the game for the first time ever and have chosen to play on hell mode. My tip for beginners is grind out darkness with the 20% boost you get from dark thirst

Even as a veteran player of Hades, this was beneficial to me - I'd never noticed the cornered status. That actually makes me want to give Poseidon a run or two, rather than my usual dates with Artemis and the Chiron bow.

The thing I wished I knew in my first few runs: charging bullrush on the shield blocks attacks that land from the front. I was too busy playing underworld Frisbee to realise it.

Just an added tip for armored enemies - even if they have only 1 hp left on the yellow health bar, extra damage will NOT carry over into their final, red health bar. It essentially functions as our own death defiance.

Also - There are 2 different powers in the Mirror to choose from. It took me a long time to figure that out!

Dude I've played like at least 50 playthroughs and even cleared the game once on heat and twice on god mode and I STILL learnt so much here!

Btw you mention that you can turn up the heat to gain more rewards, is this true?

And by rewards I mean like more gems and darkness? I know you can get more titan blood and the drink but that's once per playthrough, but I don't think I have noticed a darkness increase even though I know this used to be a percentage based multiplier reward for darkness in previous versions of the game.

I wish to farm more darkness but not having multipliers or really ANY benefits from increasing heat seems to make the replays sort of pointless for me except for the fun of the gameplay itself.
