Getting a reflect dash almost always makes the run significantly easier

"Didnt kill hades in undere ten runs so i figured out what i was doing wrong"

thats pretty depressing. im on 25 runs and just now got past the hydra thingy

Pierced butterfly is good, but to the ones who usually take a lot of damage the broken spearpoint is the best option.

The pierced butterfly is... Okay. It definitely has an effect, but unless you're really good at the game, other keepsakes like the hourglass (from Charon) and the cthonic coin purse (from hypno) are excellent for getting a head start and providing a huge amount of survivability, while also giving the player the option to switch off of those keepsakes. Though I will have to say the pierced butterfly is a decent way to practice a more deliberate, careful play style

In regards to chain lightning, i find that it makes Hades an easier fight. It allows you to focus him and still clear his minions. On top of that, hades uses those skulls that send a wave of damage out if you do not destroy them fast enough and the chain lightning foes help clear clusters of those quickly. Not ideal for raw damage. But to help clear annoying backup in that last encounter, i find it helpful (but only for certain weapons)

> spear is slow and not good enougth for Dionysis boons
> shows literally that its fast for stack all five hangover with it

On one of my absolute best runs Hades just let me pass. I was like, wtf? Hades just Rick Rolled me.

You can be aggressive, aggressive as hell, if you build right. Depending on what boons you get early on you might want to focus some over others. I had a Dio/Zeus build on the Satan version of the Rail that absolutely chewed through everything, nabbing the the three in a row special from a Daedalus hammer just made it ten times meaner. I favor reflect dash over attack so getting that as soon as possible really helps too.

I really prefer the ploom. It’s bonus comes from just clearing floors quickly and it buffs your move speed and gives you a chance to dodge attacks. I got it to 25% and had some upgraded gloves so I wasn’t taking damage from 30% of attacks landed on me, and I was fast. Not to mention, I don’t have to have flawless encounters, just quick ones.

Being too aggresive and not taking advantage of your Cast are the only "big mistakes" I see here. The rest are just tips.

Use the butterfly, shows a clip of taking damage. Hm.

Ares and Demeter is dmg, and Aphrodite and Poseidon is utility? Wtf?

Aphrodite has the highest % damage boons in the game, and Poseidon basically allows you to trivialize every single enemy in the game that isn’t a boss with massive wallsplat damages. Ares’ doom is very safe but low dps unless you can get stacking doom or merciful end on it, while Demeter’s slow is etremely useful utility.

The moment I started to actually slow down, I did so much better

To me, the Pierced Butterfly is a training tool, not a serious tool for heated runs. The 20-30% damage it's worth... isn't actually that much since it's additive, not multiplicative. If you've already stacked +200% damage on your primary damage source (not even a little bit hard to do), then that 30% is really only 10% more damage than you would have had otherwise.

That said, using it early on to _learn_ how to play without getting hit is a critical part of learning the game and getting better at it.

Still, later on... **ahem** _much_ later on, which I won't go into because spoilers... there's another keepsake that gives much, much bigger permanent (per run) benefits that _don't_ go away when you take it off in Styx in favor of a defensive keepsake.

The keepsake in question can pretty reliably more than double your total damage output and give serious defensive boons as well... so don't just hear "butterfly = good" and never use anything else. There are times when it's absolutely _not_ the best keepsake to take, plus it limits you from seeking specific builds by taking god keepsakes to guarantee shots at the boons you want (and to ease prophecy clearing, which gives much faster progress than grinding!)

There's also something to be said for taking the Plume to train yourself how to clear quickly, which can sometimes be a better strategy in certain battles with tons of damage flying around and not that much ability to avoid it. Most of Styx falls into that category for me, especially the tiny rooms, where it's often much better to just ignore damage, even ongoing poison damage, and finish the room in a second or two, than to make three or four runs to the antidote fountain.

i always use the teeth i got from skelly in my runs! it gives you death defiance and if you get it to 3 stars it fulls your health completely for one death.

The other thing about Pierced Butterfly is that it does make you play WAY safer when you’re learning the game. It’s more concrete incentive to not take damage, something that’s also very helpful for your runs haha

On the topic of the "use pierced butterfly" tip, it's not a particularly good keepsake to use if you're new or bad. I would recommend the Evergreen Acorn keepsake over pierced butterfly if you're having trouble on any of the bosses, especially Hades. Even at rank 1, the evergreen acorn will block 3 hits from bosses, that's about 120 damage from Hades (give or take).

I prefer the lambent plume. With the Hermes boon upgraded from the musician in Tartarus I can get 50% dodge by just tanking the damage. I focus on damage with the twin fists and it's a really good bonus to dodge 50% of Hades attacks and having Athena's blocking dash for the rest. If you manage to get the regen after you use defiance boon. Hades is real easy to beat

remember aoe skills are beneficial against hades cause he summons adds, specially if you play +4 measures when hades is putting out minibosses

I think the harpy feather duster is kind of underrated.

Yeah, 5% doesn’t sound like that high of a chance but consider the sheer amount of pots and vases in each room.

I guarantee you’ll find at least ONE health item in every room which can come in clutch during a rougher run.
