Great recommendations. I discovered and subscribed to your channel while searching for new folk horror books. In our neck of the woods, we have Valley Versus Vision: Folk Horror of the Willamette Valley by Jahan Ihsan. It is terrifying as it is in first person narrative of a Lithuanian American who has psychic powers and an obsessive personality for history and a particular woman. Lots of witchcraft used from Rosaleen Norton, Aleister Crowley, and other odd details on plants and animals. I might read Ritual next, thanks!

New to your channel. The Folk Horror algorithm brought me here. The intro is nice but there’s no sound, just a note or two of piano at the 41sec mark. I didn’t know “The Wickerman”(1973) was based on a book called “Ritual”, but “The Ritual” by Adam Nevill is also an excellent film, “The Ritual”(2017). Interesting list.
